Today we have a fantastic toilet tube frog craft for kids on The Inspiration Edit today. As a child I remember going on walks with my parents in the woods and around ponds and lakes.
One of the things I really enjoyed was looking for Frogs. My dad would tell us stories about finding frogs when he was a child and it's something that has always stayed with me. Today we have this fantastic toilet tube idea. I hope you will love.
Our first post for spring is this toilet tube craft which was really fun and easy to make and I'm so excited to share. I've made a template if you would like to download the head, feet and tongue. Enjoy.

🖌️ How To Make the Frog Craft
- Step 1: To begin with you will need to paint your Toilet tubes green. I gave my toilet rolls one coat, but you can do more than one coat if needed.
- Step 3: Use the pencil and templates to create five green heads from the Green Cardstock.
- Step 6: Once the feet are complete, cut out five tongues for your speckled frogs from the red cardstock.
- Step 7: Using a black permanent marker or posca pen, draw eyes and a mouth onto your speckled green faces.
- Step 8: Next roll the red cardstock up and glue the end onto the mouth of your frog using the glue gun.
- Step 9: Next hot glue the frogs heads onto the top of the toilet tube. I placed the glue onto the tube and ten stuck the head onto the tube.
Now it's your turn.
Why not have fun making these speckled frogs with the kids or you could make a toilet tube frog craft yourself as a mat time or story making resource.
It's simple to do and something I found enjoyable. I'm sure the kids will find it super fun too.
Cleaning paint brushes after your craft can sometimes be tricky. My top tip would be to clean painting equipment and brushes using apple cider vinegar. Enjoy.
💡 Pro Tip: Before final assembly, lay out all components to assess their proportions and placements, making adjustments as needed for a harmonious final piece.
🧑🎨 Expert Tips
- Head Sizing: Ensure the frog's head cutout is proportionate to the tube's diameter; an oversized head can overshadow the body, while a too-small head may look disproportionate.
- Eye Placement: Position the eyes symmetrically on the head, slightly above the centerline, to create a balanced and engaging facial expression.
- Foot Alignment: Attach the feet evenly at the base, ensuring they are spaced equally on both sides to provide stability and a symmetrical appearance.
- Tongue Length: Cut the tongue to an appropriate length that extends outward without drooping excessively, maintaining the craft's neatness and realism.
- Arm Positioning: Glue the arms at equal heights on either side of the tube, angled slightly forward to mimic a natural resting position.
- Color Consistency: Use the same shade of green for all frog parts to maintain a cohesive look; variations can distract from the overall design.
💭 FAQs
Using a cloth or flat edge helps smooth out air pockets. Children learn to apply consistent pressure, ensuring the wrap appears neat when dry.
Yes, round tubes may roll when bumped. Adding flat base shapes helps reduce unwanted movement during crafting or display time.
Using sturdier cardstock for the frog's legs and feet provides better support. Thicker materials prevent bending and maintain the frog's shape over time.
Yes, placing a small amount of clay or pebbles inside the bottom of the tube can lower the center of gravity. This makes the frog more stable during play.
