Dragonfly Craft Using Popsicle Sticks

Today we have a fantastic popsicle stick dragonfly craft. This simple dragonfly preschool craft is fun and easy to make with the little ones. You can use popsicle sticks or alternatively you could make a dragonfly clothespin craft if you don’t have lollipop sticks. 

There are plenty of dragonfly pictures online to inspire you and give you some ideas for creating this easy preschool craft. This step by step insect craft for pre K and nursery aged kids is a great way to teach children about nature and insects.

You might want to print some dragonfly images and place them on the table with your supplies to help inspire the children while they take part in this dragonfly activity.

Supplies Needed to Make a Dragonfly Craft

Here are the supplies you will need for this dragonfly activity. 

  • Popsicle stick
  • Pompoms
  • Googly eyes
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Craft glue
  • Glitter paper

Step 1: How To Make A Dragonfly 

Select 1 popsicle stick, 1 large pompom and 5 or more small pompoms.

Apply a drop of glue on any one open side of the popsicle stick.

Step 2: Starting Your Dragonfly Craft

Place the large pompom on the glued part of the popsicle stick.

Step 3: Making The Dragonfly Body

Apply another drop of glue near the large pompom and then place a small pompom on it.

Step 4: Making Dragon Fly Wings

Select a glitter craft paper and trace the dragonfly wings on it. Use scissors to cut out the traced wings.

Step 5: Add Glitter To Your Dragonfly Wings

Attach the glitter wings on the popsicle stick, right below the small pompom.

Step 6: Adding Pompoms To Your Dragonfly Wings. 

Now attach more small pompoms on the popsicle stick. Place a pompom over the wings to cover it.

Step 7: Attaching Dragonfly Eyes.

Once you’re done attaching the pompoms on the popsicle stick, stick googly eyes to the large pompom to complete the pompom dragonfly craft.

Your dragonfly craft is now complete!

Instructions

    Select 1 popsicle stick, 1 large pompom, and 5 or more small pompoms.

    Apply another drop of glue near the large pompom and then place a small pompom on it.

    Select a glitter craft paper and trace the dragonfly wings on it. Use scissors to cut out the traced wings.

    Now attach more small pompoms on the popsicle stick. Place a pompom over the wings to cover it.

    Once you’re done attaching the pompoms on the popsicle stick, stick googly eyes to the large pompom to complete the pompom dragonfly craft.

    Your dragonfly craft is now complete!
