Who Is the Wizard of Oz?

The Wizard of Oz is a fictional character in L. Frank Baum’s children’s book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. He is the ruler of the Emerald City, and he first appears to Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto after they are brought to him by the Good Witch of the North.

The Wizard claims to be all-powerful and demands that the people of Oz treat him with respect. However, he is eventually revealed to be a fraud who cannot even grant basic wishes.
