Whether my sausage is thawed or frozen, I can still get dinner on the table in time with this easy Instant Pot Penne Pasta Recipe. In fact, I can get anything on the table in time for dinner with my Instant Pot.

Instant Pot Penne Pasta Ingredients
- 2-3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 3-4 sausages of your choice
- 6 cups penne rigate
- 2 cups vegetable broth
- 3 cups of water
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh chives for garnishing
Instant Pot Penne Pasta Recipe
This sausage penne recipe yields 4-5 servings.
First, pour Extra Virgin Olive Oil into the inner pot and set IP to saute function. As the IP preheats, cut sausages into bite-sized pieces.
Cook bite-sized sausage pieces in the oiled inner pot, for about 2-3 minutes or until all sides are browned.
Turn off saute function and pour broth and water into the inner pot, making sure to deglaze the bottom of the pot by scraping any burned, brown bits with a wooden spoon.
Add penne into the inner pot, ensuring that it is completely covered in water/broth.
Add tomato sauce on top.
Close the Instant Pot and set on high manual pressure for 4 minutes.
Once the time is up, do a quick pressure release. Open the Instant Pot and set to saute. Add cream and stir. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Serve in individual bowls, topping each one off with fresh chives.
