About The Planet Venus

Venus is the second planet from the sun and is often referred to as the Earth’s sister planet. This is because Venus is very similar in size to Earth and has a very similar structure.

Venus Surface

However, Venus has some major differences too. For example, Venus does not have any water on its surface as Earth does. The surface of Venus is very dry and has huge mountains and volcanoes.

Venus Atmosphere

The atmosphere of Venus is also very different from Earth’s atmosphere. Venus has a very thick atmosphere made up mostly of carbon dioxide gas. This gas makes the planet’s surface very hot, even though the sun is not that close to Venus.

The average temperature on the surface of Venus is about 462 degrees Celsius! That’s hot enough to melt lead!

Venus Rotates Slowly

Venus also rotates very slowly on its axis. One day on Venus lasts for 243 Earth days! This means that a year on Venus, which is the time it takes to go around the sun, lasts for about 225 Earth days.

Interesting Venus Facts For Kids

Here are some more interesting facts about Venus:

-Venus is the brightest object in the night sky after the moon.

-Because of its bright appearance, Venus has been called the morning star and the evening star.

-The surface of Venus is covered in craters just like the surface of the moon.

How To Make This Venus Craft

The first thing you need to do is print the Venus Template off using a printer. Then trace the outline of the template onto the corresponding paper.

Cut out all the shapes from the colored paper and prepare to assemble your Venus Planet.

Now you can glue all the pieces of the planet Venus together.

This is a fun project and very easy to do. Be sure to create a fun space background to allow the Venus planet to stand out.

You can make a solar system background by flicking white paint onto a piece of black construction paper.

Finally paste the Venus planet onto the background once the paint is dry.

This is a fun preschool project and can also be done with kids from older classes too.
