🖌️ How To Make DIY Mickey Pumpkin Ears
- Step 1: Download and print out the Pumpkin Mickey ears template.
- Step 2: Cut the template out and trace onto the foam. Cut the foam pieces out and set aside.
- Step 3: Use a black marker to add lines to each of the orange ear pieces like you see on a pumpkin.
- Step 4: You will need 3 pieces of the orange foam for each ear. Glue the 3 pieces of foam together with the glitter facing the front.
- Step 5: Repeat these steps for the smaller ears which go on top of Mickey’s head. Glue the pieces of Mickey’s face to the front of the ears. Glue the smaller ears on top of Mickey’s face. Set aside.
- Step 6: Start assembling the bow. Put the pieces of the bow together and add a bit of glue to secure in place. See photo for example. Repeat this with the second piece.
- Step 7: Place the bow on the bottom piece of it and then wrap a small strip around the middle and secure with glue.
- Step 8: Glue a border around the ears with black sewing trim. Glue the ears onto the headband.
- Step 9: Glue the bow in the center. Your DIY Mickey ears are ready to be worn!

🧑🎨 Expert Tips
- Ears placement: Lightly draw center guide marks before attaching each ear—this helps ensure equal spacing and prevents uneven or tilted designs.
- Volume control: If your design has layered elements, press each section flat as it dries so the ears stay lightweight and don’t sag when worn.
- Contrast layering: Use dark neutral shades as background layers to help the pumpkin-themed features stand out more boldly without overwhelming the overall look.
- Comfort padding: Wrap soft felt around the inside of the headband area to prevent irritation if the ears will be worn for long durations.
- Detail shaping: Trim rounded elements like leaves or vines with curved scissors—this gives a smoother outline and avoids choppy, jagged edges.
- Edge sealing: Use a low-gloss sealant around the outermost parts to minimize fraying or color fade, especially if the ears are reused over time.
