🖌️ How To Make Valentines Treat Bags
- Step 1: Download and print the monster template.
- Step 2: Cut out the monster template and trace onto coloured cardstock.
- Step 3: Cut the monster out.
- Step 4: Cut thin strips of white cardstock. Cut small nails and glue onto each finger of the monster. Allow the glue to dry completely.
- Step 5: Glue a glitter heart shape onto the belly of the monster.
- Step 6: Glue the hands on top of the heart.
- Step 7: Glue googly eyes onto the monster. Allow the glue to dry completely.
- Step 8: Draw a mouth onto the monster. Cut white teeth and glue onto the mouth or cut a black shape for the mouth, a red shape for the tongue and white teeth. Glue everything together and then glue onto the monster.
- Step 9: Cut coloured cardstock and glue onto the monster here and there to add personality. Add a heart shaped nose for a cute Valentine's Day touch.
- Step 10: Use paint pens (or markers) to draw stripes, dots or whatever you want onto your monster to give it little more personality.
- Step 11: Glue the monster onto the treat sack. Allow to dry completely.
Your treat sack is ready to be filled with candy, sweets and favours! This is sure to make someone smile!
💡 Pro Tip: Line up all the finished treat bags in a "monster parade" display, letting each child's creation tell its own story before they’re gifted.
🧑🎨 Expert Tips
- Transform the Eyes into Windows: Design clear pockets for the monster’s eyes, letting colorful candies peek through for a playful, "watchful" surprise.
- Give the Monster a Mood: Draw or paint interchangeable expressions—like silly, shy, or grumpy—that kids can swap to match their monster’s "feelings."
- Tuck a Riddle Inside: Hide a funny riddle or mystery inside each bag that reveals itself when the treats are emptied, adding an extra layer of fun.
- Shape the Bag Differently: Instead of sticking to rectangles, fold the bags into wild shapes like spiky stars or puffy clouds for a monster that's bursting with character.
- Weave Textures into Details: Stitch bits of felt, scrap fabric, or yarn onto the monster’s hair or hands for a soft, sensory element.
- Design Color Code Clues: Color different monsters according to secret meanings—pink for "sweet," green for "adventurous," blue for "kind"—so kids can match them to friends' personalities.
💭 FAQs
Using felt, foam sheets, or textured cardstock adds a fun, tactile feel to the monster, making it more interesting for kids to touch and play with.
You can design a liftable flap for the mouth or a hidden pocket behind the body to sneak in small candies, notes, or stickers for an extra surprise.
Arrange them along a "monster trail" on tables, clip them to a colorful clothesline, or pile them into a toy chest for a playful party look.
Switch up colors and add tiny props like Santa hats, pumpkins, or bunny ears so the monster can fit Christmas, Halloween, or Easter celebrations easily.
