Halloween Party Food for Adults
Whether you're a child or an adult Halloween can be such a fun time of the year. As adults you can really get into the spirit of things and often enjoy halloween as much if not even more than the kids.
As an adult I still love Halloween. I enjoy taking my daughter trick or treating, helping her choose her Halloween costume and we always love to bake halloween treats and halloween party food.
Baking Halloween cupcakes is a fun tradition and even when my daughter is grown it's something I think I will do each year.

🌈 Substitutions and Variations
- Cake mix alternative: Use a vanilla or red velvet cake mix instead of chocolate for a different flavor and color contrast.
- Slime filling: Replace lime Jell-O with green-colored pudding or gelatin for a different texture and taste.
- Decorative eyes: Use mini chocolate chips or edible candy eyes instead of small candy eyes for a spooky effect.
🔪How to Make Slime Cupcakes
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a 12 count muffin tin with the black cupcake liners. Combine the chocolate cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil and water.
Fill each muffin well about ⅔ full. Bake for 18-20 minutes. Insert a toothpick into the cupcakes around 18 minutes, if it comes out clean the cupcakes are done.
Remove from the oven and let cool.
Place the mold in the fridge for 2-3 hours or until set.
Once the Jell-O has set, remove from the fridge.
Now to Frost the Halloween Cupcakes.
Use a toothpick to apply a small amount of frosting on the back of the small candy eyes.
Give each Blobby/Slimer (2) eyes and place on top of the frosted cupcakes.
Repeat with each halloween cupcake.

👩🍳 Expert Tips
- Use a silicone mold for the slime. This helps create a consistent, gooey shape that sits perfectly atop each cupcake.
- Chill the slime before assembly. Refrigerating the slime ensures it holds its shape and adds a cool contrast to the cupcake.
- Add candy eyes for a spooky touch. Placing candy eyes on the slime gives your cupcakes a playful, eerie character.

Store decorated cupcakes in an airtight container at room temp for up to 2 days. If it’s warm, pop them in the fridge—but let them sit out before serving, so the frosting softens up.
Totally! Boxed cake mix makes it quick and easy—just follow the instructions and focus your energy on the fun decorating part.
Use gel food coloring instead of liquid—it gives bolder color without thinning your frosting. Perfect for those dramatic Halloween shades!
Yes! Bake the cupcakes a day ahead and store them plain. Decorate the morning of the party so they’re fresh and eye-catching for your guests.
