How to Make Christmas Tree Cupcakes
Everyone wants the perfect Christmas treats for their Instagram photos, but not all of us know how to make food that is picture worthy. Not to worry, I have you covered with these picture worthy Christmas tree cupcakes!
Christmas Tree Cupcake Ingredients
- 12 vanilla cupcakes, cooled down and ready for decorating
- 4-5 oz. yellow fondant
- Small star cookie cutter
- Cornstarch for rolling
- 1 ½ sticks butter, softened
- 3 cups icing sugar
- 4-5 tbsp milk
- ¼ tsp Kelly green gel food coloring
Yields: One dozen holiday cupcakes
First, you will want to make up your box of vanilla cake mix which will yield about 12 cupcakes.
Next, carefully pour your cake batter into the cupcake liners leaving a little room for them to rise.
Then, let your cupcakes cool down so they are easy to decorate.
*Be sure to put your batter in cupcake liners so you can easily decorate them into Christmas tree cupcakes.*
How to Make Christmas Tree Cupcakes
Begin by creating your fondant stars. Lightly dust cornstarch on a clean working surface and on your rolling pin. Roll out fondant so that it’s about ¼ of an inch thick.
Use cookie cutter to cut out star shapes. You’ll need 12. Set aside on wax paper.
Make the Buttercream
Make buttercream by beating butter, icing sugar and milk with an electric mixer on medium speed. Gradually increase the speed to high and beat until smooth and forms stiff peaks.
Add gel food coloring to buttercream and mix until completely colored.
Once you have finished making the buttercream, you will want to put it into a piping bag.
Next, frost each cupcake. Add one fondant star to each cupcake and serve.
