Writing a Beautiful Letter to the Queen

During the school Holiday’s Sylvia and I made a boredom Jar of things to do. One of the things we wrote down was to write a letter! So when I asked my daughter who she wanted to write to she said, “Queen Elizabeth”.

It kind of took me by surprise but also made total sense as we are going as a family to Buckingham Palace to visit the State Rooms. We are staying at the Premier Inn in Kensington and are very excited about this.

Writing Our Letter To Queen Elizabeth

So we got to work and Sylvia wrote her own letter, with a little help from Mummy in the second paragraph. It was addressed to Queen Elizabeth. With Sylvia’s permission I am sharing the letter,

Dear Queen Elizabeth

My name is Sylvia Elizabeth Folola Milnes. I am seven years old. I wonder how you are doing at the palace today?

I wonder what you do on Monday’s and Tuesdays? I hope you enjoy your new granddaughter Charlotte.

My family is mum, Dad and Yoda my dog. How many dogs do you have?

I am half Tongan. I am a direct descendent of the Kings of Tonga.

I go to #### Primary School. I have been learning about Kings and Queen.

My British Great Great Grandpa was Francis Bottoms and he came to Buckingham Palace in the 1950’s to get his MBE and he met King George.

I am glad Elizabeth is my middle name.

From Sylvia

I hope you enjoyed reading my daughter’s letter. It made me giggle at times!

How To Address The Queen

If you are interested in writing to the Queen you can write it in any format you wish however if you wish to write a formal traditional letter, you can open with ‘Madam’ and close the letter with the form ‘I have the honour to be, Madam, Your Majesty’s humble and obedient servant’.

You can write to Her Majesty at the following address:

Her Majesty The Queen
Buckingham Palace
London SW1A 1AA

Receiving A Letter From The Queen

I don’t expect we will get a reply from the Queen but you never know! If you don’t write you won’t find out!

By the way, if you want to get your letter written by professional letter writers, you can always try this professional service for buying a letter paper online.

We prefer to write our own letters by hand. It’s super fun. Don’t forget when writing to royalty to use the formal introduction and ending. That’s super important and something I learnt along the way.

How incredibly sweet the letter was! Maybe if she let Her Majesty know her mum is a blogger, she’d get a response! Or even an invite to tea! Thanks for sharing your daughter’s adorableness with us.
