Moving House and Choosing New Carpet
The last three weeks for my family have been pretty hectic as we’ve been moving house and trying to get the home organised in time for Christmas. Luckily my mum is staying in Yorkshire and she was able to come over and give us a hand with the unpacking and my dad helped John to shift the furniture.
I’m so glad the move is over with. We had a week without gas and heating which was really difficult but the gas came on and the house is now warm. We have had the toilet fixed, the cooker connected and John has laid the carpet in our bedroom.
We went to Carpet right to choose some carpet for the lounge, hall and stairs. We have laminate from the old house to put down in the spare room and Sylvia is having a raspberry red carpet. The new carpets all arrived yesterday and are stacked on the stairs.
The kitchen and bathroom floors have flooring, which I don’t like but they will have to do for now. These floors are old and crusty but maybe we can replace those in 2017. That’s a project for next year! Exciting! For now we are sorting the bedrooms, hall stairs and lounge.
I’m currently in London. I had a few blogging events to attend and a visit to my Endocrinologist in London so, John is home with Sylvia and the dogs working on the carpets while I’ve been catching up on the blog.
It’s not been easy as we had two weeks with no internet. To add to this my computer was accidently broken and is currently in a shop to get fixed. If it can be fixed! I have been doing my work from the cellphone and that has not been easy.
My goal for the rest of the year is to finish off the few reviews we have left to write. I have one sponsored post and some Christmas and festive posts I’d like to write. Then I will be taking a week off at Christmas. I am going to spend time with the family and enjoy a week to ourselves.
I can’t wait for the carpets to be laid and can’t wait to share our before and after photos and have the week off at Christmas.

I’ve always been in trouble when it comes to choosing a carpet! would love to see what it looks life before and after!
Okay. I will share once the house is done.
Congratulations on your new home! It’s always exciting to get to choose the new things you want in your home. I hope you enjoy the new home for years to come.
Thanks. I am sure we will. It’s super exciting.
I hope everything works out for you guys. I love that the house is slowly coming together! That’s awesome news! I’m sure everything will be fine before the year ends!
Yes 2017 is going to be an amazing year for us.
Thank you for sharing this. I’m looking forward to see your fully furnished house and great carpet. I’m so excited for you.
Oh cool. I can’t wait for the carpets to be laid.
Oh, you are a brave one, moving right around the holidays! I did that once and it was super stressful. I only moved down the street, though! It is exciting, though, turning a whole new house into a home!
Thanks. 🙂 We needed to move and it was the only time for us.
New house for new year would be perfect for your family. Wishing you all the success to your new home.
I know. I cannot wait to get all set up!
I’m really bad in selecting carpets because I find all of them too awesome. Moving is also hectic but it gets better when you plan and organize everything in advance.
It was a tough job but I think we got the right carpets this time!
I really hope your computer can be fixed. We have laminate flooring at the moment but are considering to change it for carpet. Can’t wait to see how your house looks after the carpets are laid.
I hope the computer is fixed too! i cant wait to see my new lounge carpet. It is a soft one!
I can’t wait to see the before and after photos….
Good luck and I hope you are happy in your new home x
Oh it is going to look fab! I cant wait to share.
Moving is so stressful. It’s nice to have someone to help out. We are in the process of redoing our floors and it is a pain. First we started with wood, not we are on to changing out the carpets.
We had wood but carpet is more cosy I think!
Hope you had/are having fun in London at the many events you’ve got to attend. Can not wait to see your new carpets in your new home
Thanks Anosa. London was good. I did have to rest a lot in between events but I expected that. The lounge carpet is done but we are waiting for the stairs and landing to be done as we need a non-rainy day to cut the carpet to size.
