Journal Writing Prompts For Kids– Included Gifted Items

For as long as I can remember my Mother kept a journal. In fact I loved to read the quotes and words she recorded about me and my sister when we were little. I began writing a journal at the age of 13 and never stopped.

Journal writing for me is a great way to relax and get my worries, concerns, hopes, achievements and stories written and recorded for the future generations. Somedays writing a journal entry can come naturally. I’ll have a lot to say but other days it’s helpful to have a writing prompt or a question to help me.

Today I will share 10 journal writing prompts for kids. This is a great way to encourage children to write a journal as well as encouraging literacy skills and development. Any kind of writing activity is great for kids!

A New Journal For Writing

Before I begin I’d love to share my brand new Journal from Pen Heaven. I’m excited to be using this to record my own journal entries over the coming weeks and months. I ordered a Chianti Large Leather Journal which I absolutely love.

My new Journal is tan colored, is made from genuine leather in Italy and the pages are acid-free meaning I can use any kind of ink or pencil lead in my new Journal. I also received a brand new Cross Wanderlust ballpoint pen. I’ve had this pen before and I lost it so I was super excited to get this fantastic pen to use alongside my journal and these writing prompts. It’s the best pen I’ve ever had! I love it.

What Is A Journal Prompt?

A Journal prompt in simple terms is a question or sentence to get you thinking and help the writer to come up with an idea of what to record in their journal. There are several types of Journal prompts an these are also known as diary prompts or journal starters.

  • Journal Prompts for kids

  • Daily Journal prompts
  • Monthly Journal Prompts
  • Journal Prompts for teens

In all honesty there are many different types of journal prompts. Here are 10 kids journal prompts which are great for children.
