Fun and Funky Christmas Tree Brownies
This year we have some fantastic Christmas themed fun food ideas that are perfect for the Christmas party or for making themed food with the kids. Today we have these funky Christmas tree brownies to share here on The Inspiration Edit. I sure love them. We love googly eyes and these are brilliant.

Fun and Funky Christmas Tree Brownies
Ingredients
1 C unsalted sweet cream butter, softened
2 C sugar
3 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla
2/3 C unsweetened cocoa powder
1 C flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 C chopped walnuts
1 9×13 baking pan fitted with parchment paper
1 large tree cookie cutter
Royal Icing
3 egg whites,
2 C powder sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cream of tarter
1 package of large edible eyes
black, and green gel food colouring
2 disposable piping bags fitted with a #2 tip
1 squeeze bottle
2 bowls to mix colours in

How to Make These Christmas Tree Brownies
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Using a large sauce pan, melt butter. Once melted remove from heat and mix in the sugar, eggs and vanilla until combined
In a large bowl combine the cocoa, flour, salt and baking powder
Gradually mix in the cocoa flour mixture into the wet ingredients until combined.
Mix in the chopped walnuts
Pour batter into the baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes
Once baked, cool to room temperature
Once cooled, cut brownies into trees using the and place onto a cutting board or plate so that it will be easier to decorate
Royal Icing Directions:
Using the standing mixer, combine the egg whites, cream of tarter, powder sugar and vanilla and mix on medium speed until stiff peaks form
Split the icing into 2 bowls
In the first bowl, add in a few drops of green colouring, mix until combined.
Add in some more food colouring to get the shade you want.
In the second bowl, add in black gel colouring, mix until combined
Place a little bit of icing into each piping bag
Using the remaining green icing, add 2 tablespoons of water and mix until combined.
Pour the green icing into the squeeze bottle
Decorating Your Christmas Trees
Using the green piping bag, pipe a line all around the trees for the edge
Fill in the green with the thinned green icing in the squeeze bottle
Place two eyes onto the brownies
Let dry for an hour
Using the green icing again, pipe an oval for the nose under the eyes
Using the black icing, pipe on a smile and eye brows
Let sit for another hour before enjoying.
