It’s no secret that kids today are more glued to screens than ever before. As a result, childhood obesity rates are skyrocketing.

As a mom, you know that it’s important to stay active. But let’s be honest, sometimes it’s hard to find the time or energy to get moving.

That’s why I’ve put together this list of 10 fun ways to get active as a family. 

These ideas are perfect for getting your family more active and promoting better health for everyone. Check out these ten creative ideas!

1. Go on a Nature Walk

Spending time in nature has been shown to have numerous benefits for both physical and mental health. 

So why not explore the great outdoors with your family? Going for a nature walk is a great way to get some exercise, spend time together, improve your mental health, and appreciate the natural world. 

Make sure to bring along a camera and plenty of drinking water so you can document your adventure. You might even want to pack a picnic blanket so you can enjoy a picnic in a beautiful spot. 

Nature walks are a great way to recharge and connect with the world around you. So go explore – your family will be glad you did!

2. Have a Dance Party

One great way to have some fun and get some exercise with your family is to have a dance party! (Monster Mash anyone?)  You can crank up your favorite tunes and let loose. 

Everyone can take turns picking songs, and you can even make up your own dances. Just make sure to clear out some space so you don’t end up knocking over any furniture. 

Not only is dancing a blast, but it’s also great for your health. It helps to improve coordination, balance, and flexibility. And it’s a great way to get your heart pumping. 

So why not turn up the music and get ready to boogie with your family?

3. Play Tag

Tag is a classic game that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. It’s a great way to get everyone moving! 

So next time you’re looking for something to do with your family, give it a try. You just might have a blast!

4. Go for a Bike Ride

Getting outside and being active is one of the best things you can do for your health. And what better way to do it than by going for a bike ride with your family? 

Not only is biking a great workout, but it’s also a lot of fun. And it’s a great way to spend time together as a family. You can explore new neighborhoods, or take a leisurely ride through the park. 

Bike riding is also a great way to teach kids about safety. They can learn how to be aware of their surroundings and how to follow traffic rules.

If you have younger kids, you can even put them in a trailer or bike seat and pull them along behind you!

5. Shoot Some Hoops

Playing basketball is a great way to get active. You can set up a hoop in your driveway or head to the local park to shoot some hoops with the whole family! 

Using sports as a way to stay active can also help teach your children important life lessons, such as teamwork and good sportsmanship.

6. Go Swimming

Swimming is a great way to stay healthy and active, and it’s an activity that the whole family can enjoy. It’s a low-impact activity that is easy on the joints, and it’s a great workout for the entire body

Swimming is also a great way to cool off on a hot summer day. And if you swim in a lake or ocean, you’ll also get the benefit of being in nature.

7. Play Frisbee

Playing frisbee is a fun way to get everyone in the family moving around. You can even make it into a game by setting up targets for everyone to aim for! 

This sport is a relatively low-impact activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and fitness levels. And, because it requires both coordination and communication, it’s a great way to bond with your family. 

Best of all, a game of frisbee can be played virtually anywhere – in the park, on the beach, or even in your own backyard.

8. Have a Water Balloon Fight

Staying healthy and active doesn’t have to be boring! One fun way to get some exercise is to have a water balloon fight with your family.
