The Best Master Yoda Quotes You Will Enjoy
These are the Best Master Yoda Quotes You Will Enjoy. As a massive Star Wars Fan for most of my life, there is no escaping the fact that Jedi Master Yoda is one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars Franchise if not one of the most important and pivotal characters in the Star Wars Films.
There are many important characters in the Star Wars Universe. Like Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Yet somehow, Yoda seems to surpass them and has become one of the most beloved characters. Yoda’s response to questions always seems to come from deep thought and understanding of his knowledge of the Force.
Yoda Voice Actor
Frank Oz is known for being the voice of many Muppets from the Muppet show, like Fozzie Bear. Frank Oz was instrumental in the Muppet show and was not only the leading performer but also lent his voice to some of the most iconic characters on The Muppet Show.
These include Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and Animal. Additionally, Frank provided voices for second-tier characters such as Sam the Eagle, George the Janitor and Marvin Suggs. Frank Oz’s experience with puppets made him the perfect voice actor to bring Yoda to life in The Empire Strikes Back.
Frank Oz said Yoda’s speech pattern was inspired by the Calabrian language spoken in Southern Italy. Yoda’s posture was inspired by his experiences with a Japanese director, Tadashi Suzuki.
Some of the most quoted lines from Star Wars are also some of the wisest words spoken by Yoda because of his unique grammar.
The Jedi Council
Along with Obi-Wan Kenobi, Master Yoda was one of the leading members of the Jedi High Council. It is not fully known what race Master Yoda came from; however, he is very old and has been a Jedi for nearly 1000 years. Yoda is known for his wise words and teachings, often speaking in a unique sentence structure.
Master Yoda was only one of a few Jedi who ever attained the highest rank in the Jedi Order. Yoda was given the title of Grand Master to the oldest and wisest member of the Jedi Order. Yoda trained many powerful Jedi, including Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker.
Training Luke Skywalker
Luke Skywalker was not a young padawan like Obi-Wan Kenobi was. Most padawans are taken from their families at a very age. Probably around early infant age or, most commonly, at 2 or 3 years old. By this standard, Luke was the oldest Padawan of his age. As a result, Yoda teaches Luke, and all be it very reluctantly.
The first of the original trilogy of Star Wars movies: The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi. George Lucas used puppets to represent Yoda. In the Prequels, Lucas opted to use CGI instead.
How Many Jedi Did Yoda Teach?
The exact number how trained Jedi fell under Yoda’s tutoring, but that number seems to reach the 20,000 mark.
In the Clone Wars movie, we learn that Yoda also trained Count Dooku, who trained Qui Gon Gin and Qui Gon eventually goes on to teach Obi-Wan Kenobi. So Master Yoda is responsible for passing on the knowledge of the Force. For all his life, Yoda has been a stalwart protector of the Jedi way of life with the deepest commitment.
The Phantom Menace Quotes

“The Dark Side Clouds everything, Impossible to see the future is.”

“Do not assume anything, Obi-Wan. Clear, your mind must be if you are to discover the real villains behind this plot.”
Revenge of the Sith Master Yoda Quotes
The Revenge of the Sith is the last of the prequels. Yet there are many quotes.
“Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed that is.”
“Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.”
Empire Strikes Back Master Yoda Quotes
I have looked at many of Yoda’s lines from the Star Wars films, and The Empire Strikes Back has the most I have found in any Star Wars movies. In the short time we see him, Master Yoda comes out with some great quotes. Although his line is not directly attributed to Yoda, we learn that Yoda was a great warrior before his exile.
These are the quotes I have managed to gather from The Empire Strikes Back.
“Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes. Even between the land and the ship.”
“Control, control, you must learn control!”
“Do. Or do not. There is no try.”
“You must unlearn what you have learned.”
“Always with you. It cannot be done.”
“Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you?”
“That is why you fail.”
“Judge me by my size, do you?”
“A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack.”
“A Jedi’s strength flows from the Force.”
“You must unlearn what you have learned.”
“Wars not make one great.”
“I can’t teach him. The boy has no patience.”
“Luminous beings are we…not this crude matter.”
“Adventure. A Jedi Craves Not These things.”
“Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.”
“You will find only what you bring in.”
“Difficult to see. Always in motion is the future.”
Return of the Jedi Quotes
Yoda Quote: “Always pass on what you have learned.”
“Soon will I rest, yes, forever sleep. Earned it I have. Twilight is upon me; soon night must fall.”
Jedi Master
Jedi Master Yoda, the Legendary Jedi Master, only because of his age and wisdom. Master Yoda is thought to have been over 900 years old when he died in the Return of the Jedi. At that point, Luke Skywalker is the only remaining Jedi.
While Yoda continues his exile on Dagobah, Yoda stops teaching and must remain in hiding from the Empire.
Fear Leads
This quote is taken from the Phantom Menace when the Jedi council question the young Anakin Skywalker. “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”
The Jedi Code
Ever wondered what the Jedi code is? It is not directly quoted in the Star Wars movies, so I managed to gather the information from a source I know well. I was given a Star Wars Christmas present many years ago containing the Jedi Path, The Vault Edition. It comes with an assortment of goodies hidden within the book. Contained within the Book is the Jedi Code.
I have found it to be wealth and a great source of information over the years. On some pages are small highlights as to how the book was passed from Count Dooku to Yoda and then on to Darth Sidious, and then lastly on to Luke Skywalker.
The Jedi Code is what all Jedi must adhere to.
There is no emotion; there is peace.
There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
There is no passion; there is serenity.
There is no chaos; there is harmony.
There is no death; there is the Force.
Had the Jedi Order survived Order 66 or the Jedi Purge, Luke would have also learned the Jedi Code, probably through his master. However, this is another source from which Luke obtained this knowledge. There is a Book that most new padawans are given on their entry towards becoming a Jedi. It is known as the Path.
The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force by Daniel Wallace
“This ancient training manual, crafted by early Jedi Masters, has educated and enlightened generations of Jedi. It explains the history and hierarchy of the Jedi Order and what Jedi must know to take their place as defenders of the peace in the galaxy, from mastery of the Force to the nuances of lightsaber combat. A single copy of this manual has survived. It is now passed on to you…”
Yoda’s wisdom and teachings have always reflected the principles of The Jedi code, including maintaining peace, justice, and self-improvement. Yoda’s quotes often emphasize the importance of staying on the light side of the Force and avoiding negative emotions like anger and fear.
Yoda may be tiny in stature, but his words are timeless and relatable for anyone on their journey of self-improvement and inner peace. May Yoda’s words continue to guide us, even in a galaxy far, far away.
The Grey Jedi Code
Maybe you have or haven’t heard of the Grey Jedi; however, they do exist now in the Star Wars Legends (aka the original cannon before Disney).
The term Gray Jedi, or simply Gray, had two meanings. First, it was used by both Jedi and Sith to describe those who skillfully manoeuvred between the light and dark sides of the Force without being consumed by darkness. Second, it described those Jedi who ignored the restrictions placed upon them by the High Council and instead chose their path. A Gray Jedi falls in between the opposed Sith and Jedi. They greatly value their independence, which is why they are not a part of any particular Force tradition. Jolee Bindo from Star Wars: The Old Republic was a great example of this character type.
The Grey Jedi are neither of the full Jedi order nor the whole dark side. They pride themselves on what the Force should be used for. The most prominent Grey Jedi from Legends were: Revan and Jolee Bind. However, they were never formally recognised as Grey Jedi.
Flowing through all, there is balance
There is no peace without a passion to create
There is no passion without peace to guide
Knowledge fades without the strength to act
Power blinds without the serenity to see
There is freedom in life
There is purpose in death
The Force is all things and I am the Force
The Sith Code
The Sith Code is almost the complete opposite of the Jedi code. While the Sith rely on passion and brute strength. The Sith Code dates back to the Old Republic days, now a more extended canon but now known as the “Legends era”.
Peace is a lie. There is only Passion.
Through Passion, I gain Strength.
Through Strength, I gain Power.
Through Power, I gain Victory.
Through Victory my chains are Broken.
The Force shall free me.
– Sith Code (Legends), initially spoken by Darth Bane
Star Wars Rebels
Yoda does make the odd cameo in the animated version of Star Wars Rebels. We know if Yoda ever travels away from Dagobah or stays there to avoid being detected by Darth Vadar and The Empire.
The episode of Star Wars Rebels, where Yoda made his appearance, either as a force ghost or through Yoda’s strong connection to the Force, was: Shroud of Darkness (Season 2, Episode 18).
