Keeping Your Home Clean with pets around is totally doable, even with all the love and chaos they bring! There’s nothing better than waking up to your puppy wagging its tail, ready to say good morning, or your cat curling up beside you for some attention. Even rabbits hopping excitedly as you let them out of their cage can bring so much joy. With a few smart tips, you can keep your home fresh and tidy while enjoying every moment with your furry friends!
If you have pets or are thinking of getting a pet, you’ll benefit in many ways. A lot of people’s mental health improves as animals are good at reducing stress. If you have children, they also benefit from having a pet, as it’s a good way to teach them about nurturing and looking after another person.
Keeping your home clean is an essential part when owning a pet. A clean home will reduce the chances of them getting ill, accidents happening and unwanted pests coming in, like roaches – this is a good guide if you need to know how to get rid of roaches.
Below are three tips for keeping your home clean for your pets.
Establish a clearing routine
Cleaning isn’t the most fun thing to do, we all know it’s not and a lot of us will put it off and do other things. To make it easier to do, the best thing is to establish a cleaning routine. A cleaning routine will help you create a routine that you will stick to as it will become second nature. Schedule your routine into your calendar, this way you can organise your week around it and have no excuse not to do it.
Manage your waste
When you have a pet, it’s important you manage your waste, as this is something that if left, can smell and bring in unwanted bugs and attention. Your pets may also eat from the waste if it’s left out which can make them ill, or play with it, causing your home to have rubbish littered about – this isn’t fun to clean up. Make sure you are regularly emptying the bins and taking the rubbish out of the house. When sorting the bin, ensure you recycle as this is good for the environment.
Designated pet and no-pet areas
Something that can help keep your home clean (or cleaner) is to have designated pet areas and no-pet areas. For example, the kitchen is a space your pet can’t go in, but the conservatory is a place they can go in. By doing this, you can keep the kitchen clean, and tidy and avoid the risk of your pet eating something they shouldn’t. This also means you don’t have to do as much cleaning in the rooms they aren’t in, as you know it won’t be covered in dog hairs.
