3CupsIcing Sugar
5tbsp.Milk
¼Kelly Green Gel Food Coloring
Instructions
First, you will want to make up your box of vanilla cake mix, which will yield about 12 cupcakes.
Next, carefully pour your cake batter into the cupcake liners leaving a little room for them to rise.
Then, let your cupcakes cool down so they are easy to decorate.
Begin by creating your fondant stars. Lightly dust cornstarch on a clean working surface and on your rolling pin. Roll out fondant so that it’s about ¼ of an inch thick.
Use cookie cutter to cut out star shapes. You’ll need 12. Set aside on wax paper
Make buttercream by beating butter, icing sugar and milk with an electric mixer on medium speed. Gradually increase the speed to high and beat until smooth and forms stiff peaks.
Add gel food coloring to buttercream and mix until completely colored.
Once you have finished making the buttercream, you will want to put it into a piping bag.
Next, frost each cupcake. Add one fondant star to each cupcake and serve.
Notes
For a festive touch, add edible glitter or colored sugar to the frosting before placing the fondant star on top.
If you don't have a star-shaped cookie cutter, you can freehand cut the fondant into star shapes using a sharp knife.
For a richer flavor, consider adding 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the buttercream frosting.
