Spread some love with these adorable Valentine’s Day Heart Cookies! Soft, buttery cookies are cut into heart shapes and decorated with sweet icing for a festive and delicious treat. Perfect for sharing with your loved ones, these cookies are as fun to make as they are to eat!
Put the softened butter and powdered sugar in a bowl. Beat with a mixer.
Add the egg and continue to beat.
Gradually add the flour, cornstarch, and salt to the mixture. Mix until you get a soft dough. Your simple sugar cookie dough is ready now.
Roll the dough into 1-inch balls. Place them on a prepared baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Use a teaspoon or your thumbs to make heart indents in the center of each ball. If you prefer, you can also use a heart-shaped cookie cutter.
Fill each heart indent with raspberry jam, being careful not to overfill.
Bake cookies in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until the cookies are lightly golden around the edges.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy your raspberry jam-filled heart cookies!
Notes
Chill the Dough: Keep your dough in the fridge for at least an hour to make cutting shapes easier and prevent spreading.Flavor Experiment: Add a splash of vanilla extract or almond extract to your dough for an extra aromatic touch to your heart cookies. Mix egg and vanilla extract together if you want to experiment with flavors.Sugar-Free Cookies: To make sugar-free heart cookies, replace powdered sugar with an equivalent amount of stevia for a healthier twist on classic sugar cookies. Don’t forget to use a heart-shaped cutter and fill the center with sugar free version of raspberry jam or gel food coloring.
