Peel and dice potatoes. Place your chopped potatoes into the Instant Pot insert. Next, add 1 Cup of water to the Inner pot.
Add the garlic, salt and pepper to the Instant Pot and close the Instant Pot lid.
Once the lid is locked in place, set the valve to sealed position and set the pressure cooker to cook on high pressure for 5 minutes.
It will take around 10 minutes for the pressure cooker to come to pressure.
Once the Instant Pot stops counting and beeps release the pressure manually. A natural release is not good when cooking potatoes as it will make them go mushy.
Add the parmesan and butter to the Instant Pot.
Using a Potato Masher, mash your garlic potatoes in the Instant Pot. Alternatively, you can blend the potatoes with an immersion blender (blend stick).
Serve your garlic mash topped with parsley or fresh chives for added flavor.
Notes
The Perfect Potato Choice: For the easiest mashed potatoes, use potatoes cut into even chunks. Cooking them in an electric pressure cooker like the Instant Pot ensures perfect tenderness.Seasoning is Key: Don't forget to season well with salt and pepper. It's a simple step that can take your Instant Pot garlic mashed potatoes from good to great.Creamy Texture: If you love mashed potatoes with a rich, creamy texture, add butter to keep your potatoes fluffy and avoids them becoming gummy.
