Paper doll template: link at the bottom of the post.
Instructions
Print and cut out the paper doll template patterns. Select coloured craft papers for the flowers (spirals), black paper for the hair pattern and any coloured paper for the head pattern. Trace the patterns and cut them out nicely.
Attach the hair pattern on the top side of the head pattern. Roll the spiral cutouts from their outer ends and all the way towards the center to create rolled flowers.
Use a black marker pen or gel pen to draw the face of the paper doll Frida Kahlo.
Take a cardboard tube and trace a round shape on a cardstock paper matched with the skin tone (paper used for the head). Cut out the round shape from the cardstock paper and cut a slit from its outer end to the center.
Roll and overlap the 2 sides of the slit to create a cone pattern. Apply glue on the overlapped part to secure the cone shape.
Attach the cone on either the open side of the cardboard tube.
Cut a slit on the top point of the cone and then insert the neck part of the paper Frida paper doll through the slit to attach the head with the tube.
Select a coloured craft paper for the skirt and trace the outer border of the cardboard tube on the middle of the paper. Decide the length for the skirt and draw a big circle from the same center as the previous one, by keeping the skirt length between both circles.
Create small and even accordion folds on the disk-shaped paper. Also cut out a strip of at least 1.5 inches width and enough length to wrap the tube once, from another coloured craft paper.
Take the strip cutout and wrap it around the tube doll’s top side of the body. Apply glue to join the overlapped parts of the strip.
Carefully insert the accordion folded round paper through the bottom the side of the tube. Add beads and the flower to the tube doll.
Your Frida Khalo paper doll craft is now complete. Enjoy!
