This recipe will make a ball of Play Doh about the size of a tennis ball. If you want to make several colours, you can double or triple the recipe. Any more than that and it is hard to manage in one batch.
Mix all the ingredients together in a big pot and then put it onto the stove.
At first the mixture is pretty runny but keep stirring continuously. Be sure to stir from the bottom so the Play Doh does not burn!
In about 2 minutes your mixture will begin to form a ball and will be hard to stir.
Take your Play Doh out of the pot and allow it to cool.
If you made a large batch, divide the dough into as many sections as you want colours.
Knead Play Doh like bread until nice and smooth.
Add 1-2 drops of your food colouring.
If your colour is too light, add 1-2 more drops until you get the desired colour.
If you want to add essential oils, add 1-2 drops and knead well.
You can then place your Play Doh into individual containers or jars.
If you want to add food extracts like lemon, caramel or butterscotch, add ½ teaspoon and knead into Play Doh.
As we were making Disney Moana themed Play Doh, we printed off labels which you can download for free below and we stuck these onto the lids of the Play Doh.
These little jars of doh and so cute and I’m sure they would make a nice activity or gift for a little one. Enjoy.
