The Liebster Award
Last week I was nominated for the Liebster Award by “Mummy Don’t say that”. So I’ll begin by saying thank you and hope everyone enjoy’s reading what I have to say.
1) What made you start blogging?
Funny you should ask. I just wrote a post about this the other day! I’ve been wanting to start a blog for a few years now. I just couldn’t figure out what subject to write about. I’ve kept a journal for 18 years and when I began typing it into electronic form and sharing stories with my friends, I realised the best thing for me to write about is myself.
After leaving an abusive marriage, my self esteem was really low and I genuinely felt rubbish about myself. I’ve worked hard to rebuild my life and have now married a supportive and loving man. My confidence has started to grow back and I’m ready to be a blogger.
I have had doubts and thought that “no one would want to follow my blog” but I am determined to overcome this and show myself that I can achieve. Starting this blog was the start of a new chapter in my life and I’m really excited about it!
2) Which post are you most proud of and why? (Link away!)
Well my most successful post to date was a review, “Reducing our puffy eyes with the body Shop”. It got shared 133 times on the first day! I was really pleased
However the post I’m most proud of is, Do Tongan’s Eat Dog’s?
It’s the story of my personal experiences with Dogs, how I really couldn’t stand them for over 30 years and how I ended up becoming the owner of a dog called Yoda, who I love and blog about every week.
I really put my heart into this article and although no one commented on the actual physical blog post, I got a lot of response on social media and learnt a lot about myself by writing the post.
3) How did you decide on your blog name?
Well that’s an easy one. A few weeks after my wedding my adrenal glands failed. I collapsed and have never been the same again. I’ve spent more time in the last 20 months in bed than anywhere else. I’ve had 9 hospital admissions and generally feel nauseous, dizzy and too physically weak to walk. My life has changed so much yet I still have my intelligence and find blogging to be very therapeutic.
My blog is called Daysinbed.com because that’s where I spend most of my time.
4) What would your dream job be?
Well I used to be a Early Years Teacher and although I did enjoy it, it’s not my dream Job. What I would love to do if I could do anything in the world, (and was well enough) is be a Court Usher in the Criminal Court. I have been a Juror on a murder trial and I found it so incredibly interesting. I simply find court cases extremely interesting and could read or listen to them all day.
5) TV or a book?
That’s a really hard one for me. I love them both for different reasons but I think television tips the scales on this occasion. I really do enjoy watching tv, both drama’s, crime shows and my favourite reality one’s too! I just like to see what people do and how they interact.
6) What is your fondest memory?
Can I be greedy and have two?
The most beautiful moment was when my grandfather walked me down the Isle, to “Pachabell’s Canon in D Major. The piece was played on the Chello. It sounded beautiful. I looked stunning, my husband was standing there looking at me and I just felt so much love for him. I seriously had the Dream Wedding and I wouldn’t ave changed a thing- not even the husband lol. (This is my sense of humour coming out here!)
The other moment or memory I recall would have to be when my daughter Sylvia was born. I had a three day labour and with needles and lines in my hands and feet. I wont forget when I finally got to hold my precious sweet baby in my arms and breastfeed her for the first time. She was really hungry! It was a moment I can’t forget.
7) Jeans or dresses?
I’m a Jeans kind of girl. I’ve always loved a good pair of Levis. If your following my blog you’ll see I’m on a weight loss Journey. I cant wait to slip into my first pair of skinny Jeans. It will be a few years until that happens. Just wait and see!
8) Describe your dream home.
My dream house would be a large mansion type property, with several bathrooms, a walk in closet, a huge kitchen, separate dining area and a lounge. I’d love to to have guest rooms for family and friends. I’d also have an awesome laundry area, a library, a craft room and a blogging room. That would be great. Of course this won’t happen in my lifetime. I have chronic health issues and wasn’t born into wealth, but that is my dream house.
As for the dream home. I all ready have this…a place where love and happiness can be felt, where I have a sweetheart husband and a beautiful and kind daughter..and of course a cheeky dog named Yoda.
9) What is your favourite sweet treat?
Egg Custards! My mum used to buy them from the bakery when I was small. They are a little nostalgic and I like the nutmeg.
10) What is the most adventurous thing you’ve done?
I don’t know which one to talk about. I’ve visited many countries around the world, lived in New Zealand and Tonga and sailed in the Pacific Ocean from island to Island (16hrs)
I guess the bravest or most daring thing was to Bungy Jump off the Auckland harbour Bridge. It was crazy and so so scary. There is no way I would do it again.
11) Best family holiday
Before I married John, I took Sylvia on the holiday of a lifetime. We went to Disneyland. It was the best week of Sylvia’s life. I’d collected disney dresses from the Car boot sales before hand and Sylvia dressed up each day. She met all the characters and it was a dream come true. Sylvia still talks about it two years later.
I’d love to take her again in a few years, after I get access to the adrenal pump (a new treatment that could significantly improve my health). This could take several years and may cost a lot. I just have to be patient and hope the medicine becomes available within the next 5 years.
I now get to nominate someone else.
I choose Katie from “The Little Brews”
