To have Natalie Portman back in the Thor movies shows just how important she is as an actress, but how important she is to Thor and how his love for her has never died.

The first film of the Thor movies and the following Thor Chronology, and the second of the Marvel movies. The first Thor movie is directed by the academy award-winning actor/director Sir Kenneth Branagh.
Thor is the son of Odin or also known as Thor Odinson. Odin is played by the world-renowned actor Sir Anthony Hopkins, King of Asgard, based on Norse mythology. Loki also learns he is secretly a son of a frost giant and not a true Asgardian as he was meant to believe.
Thor’s irresponsible actions and cowardice lead to trying to restart the war with the jotuns, also known as the frost giants. Thor is exiled to Earth (Midgard. Asgardian name for Earth), where he learns what it takes to be a true hero.
Thor’s path to Worthiness
This is where Thor meets Jane foster for the first time, and Thor will later fall in love with Jane Foster (Played by Natalie Portman), a scientist trying to prove the existence of wormholes or Einstein-Rosen-Bridges.
Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston), Thor’s adopted brother, schemes to have Thor banished from Asgard so Loki can rule in Thor’s absence. Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir, is sent to Earth by Odin. Odin puts a curse on Mjolnir, which says: “Whosoever holds this hammer, if they be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.“
This is where Thor must learn what it means to become worthy and be able to defeat Loki and the Destroyer, a creature used to guard the Asgardian secret weapons vault, which Loki now sends to kill Thor.
Thor: The Dark World (2013)
The second Thor movie and the following Thor Chronology. Thor teams up with Jane Foster again to stop Malekith, the Dark Elf leader who plans to use an ancient weapon called The Aether to plunge the universe into one of Eternal darkness.
First, Malekith (played by English Actor Christoper Eccleston) has to reobtain the Aether after it was taken by Thor’s grandfather Bor. Then hidden so far away that no one is ever supposed to find it and hide it from the Dark Elves.

Chris Hemsworth reprises his role of Thor in his third instalment as the Mighty Thor.
Thor returns to Asgard after Thor has been out looking for Infinity Stones and restoring peace to the remaining realms of Yggdrasil, only to find Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston) up to his usual tricks and somehow manages to banish Odin to Earth.
When Thor and Loki locate Odin, Thor and Loki discover that they have a long-lost sister, Hela (played by Cate Blanchett), who is alive and well.
Thor Ragnarok is considered the best of the Thor films or the best Thor Movie and is also a great stand-alone movie for Marvel Studios. Thor: Ragnarok is set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.
Hel
Hela is the Goddess of Death and wants to take over Asgard. Thor and Loki must put aside their differences and work together to stop Hela, who has managed to destroy Thor’s favourite hammer, Mjolnir.
This time Thor is captured by a fellow Asgardian known as Valkyrie (played by Tessa Thompson), seeking to escape her past. Just when things can’t get any worse, Thor is forced to fight as a gladiator, facing the Grandmaster (played by Jeff Goldblum) champion,
The Hulk
The Hulk, who claims to be the strongest avenger (played by Mark Ruffalo), had gone missing for two years after the events of The Avengers: Age Ultron. Confused yet? I was at first.
When Thor, Valkyrie and the Hulk make it to Asgard. Hela has taken over as the ruler of Asgard. Most of the remaining Asgardians trying their best to hide from Hela and Skurge (played by Karl Urban, who is also known for playing Eomer in Lord of the Rings and Doctor McCoy in Star Trek: Beyond), with Heimdall’s (played by Idris Elba) help.
Ragnarok
Thor eventually sets about the stage for causing Ragnarok and not stopping it. As he thought he was supposed to do. Leading Thor to send Loki, who will be able to free Surtur’s Crown and destroy Asgard and hopefully Hela simultaneously.
Thor: Ragnarok is the final movie which sets the stage for the next movie in the Avengers Infinity War Saga.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Tessa Thompson reprises her role as Valkyrie and is now king of New Asgard, now located on Earth. Thor is now unworthy to wield his hammer, Mjolnir.
Thor must go on a journey of self-discovery and become worthy again of defeating Gorr the God Butcher (played by Christian Bale). All of this after Thor went on to Kill Thanos in the Avengers: Endgame. This could also explain why Thor was no longer worthy to wield Mjolnir. Thor: Love and Thunder are set after the events of the Infinity Saga.
The Mighty Thor
Jane Foster will be taking on the Mighty Thor persona and wielding Mjolnir, as seen in the comics.
Jane Foster is hiding a dark secret and has cancer, and Mjolnir is the only way she can keep cancer from killing her for now. Thor finds out that he is no longer worthy to wield Mjolnir.
Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) is trying his best to lure Thor and his new weapon of choice, Stormbreaker, which has the power to summon the Bifrost. Where Gorr can then reach Eternity, where if he can reach, can wish or rid the universe of all Gods.
Four Movies of Thor
it is best to watch the Thor Movies in sequence. However, Thor: Ragnarok can be enjoyed as a stand-alone movie. Although there are not many other fellow avengers in the other movies. There are the odd cameos from the Guardians of the Galaxy at the start of Thor: Love and Thunder.
If you want to watch the Avengers movies that Thor is in, it would be best to watch them in this order.
Movies WIth Thor
According to the movie website IMDB. This has Chris Hemsworth starring as Thor in other MCU films, which puts the movies with Thor in the following order.
- Thor (2011)
- The Avengers (2012)
- Thor: The Dark World (2013)
- Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
- Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
- Infinity War (2018)
- Endgame (2019)

If I had to pick my favourite Thor Movie or Thor Movies. I would pick Thor Ragnarok and Thor Love and Thunder. Thor is the only character in the MCU who stands out as the most powerful yet fun-loving of the entire Avengers.
