Simple Easter Crafts Using Yarn

Easter Chick String Art Project

This cute Easter chick craft is a fun Easter activity to make with the kids.

So what are the types of yarn?

There are three main types of yarn used in crafting. These are Animal fiber based yarns, plant fiber based yarns, and synthetic fiber based yarns.

Animal fiber based yarns include wool, silk and cashmere.
Plant fiber based yarns include hemp, cotton and bamboo.
Synthetic fiber base yarns include nylon, polyester and rayon.

What You Will Need for This Simple Easter Craft

Yarn—yellow, orange, green
2 Small Pieces Cardboard
1 Small Piece Orange Paper
2 Googly Eyes
2 Small Yellow Feathers
Glue Stick
Scissors

🖌️ How To Make an Easter Chick Yarn Character

Step 1: First, cut out an egg shape and a carrot shape from the cardboard. I made mine about 6-inchs long, but you can make any size. Make sure to leave a little carrot top on that cutout so you can wrap green around it.

Step 2: Cut 2 little chicken feet out of the orange paper. Fold another small piece of orange paper in half and cut a triangle shape so it opens and closes like a beak.

Step 3: Rub a couple swipes of glue on one side of the cardboard pieces. Take the yellow yarn and stick the starting end to the glue and start wrapping it around the cardboard. You can go all different directions, just make sure to keep the yarn tight as you wrap it around. Once you are done, tuck the end under a few wrapped pieces so it stays put.

Step 4: Repeat step 3 using the carrot cutout. Use the orange yarn for the carrot part and the green yarn to wrap around the carrot top.

Step 5: Now just tuck one each of the feathers under the yarn on each side of the yellow chick body. Glue on the 2 googly eyes, the beak, and the feet to your Easter chick. You now have a cute little Easter chick and an Easter bunny carrot!
