What Is Shilajit?

In the past we often used herbs as a majority of our medicines, obviously now we have more chemical compounds to help, but for the most part a majority of what we have in our medicines comes from the natural world, although we do not realize it when it is in tablet form.

Shilajit is something called a mineral pitch, and it is crafted by a very long process. This process breaks down plant matter and minerals.

Shilajit is made from a sticky, black, and tar-like substance that is found in rocks in high mountain ranges such as the Himalayas.

It was originally found in Tibet and India, although now it is being found in more places. It is traditionally used in Indian Ayurvedic medicines, and it seems that the compounds in it are actually very beneficial for many common health conditions.

If you haven’t heard about it, now you have, and stick around because we are going to tell you what is good about it and if there are any side effects you should be aware of should you take it.

What Are the Benefits?

There are various benefits of Shilajit should you take it properly. It could be thanks to it having a high concentration of humic acid and fulvic acid as well as many minerals. But, let’s not get into all the technical details and get on with telling you what it can do for you.

Helping improve your brain function.

There are so many compounds in Shilajit, many of which can be useful for elevating your brain function. It is even believed that it may aid in therapy for Alzheimer’s or Dementia.

Shilajit can be used for longevity and to slow aging, and in such, it can help to control cognitive disorders that come in tow. Researchers hope to see this substance impact in preventing cognitive disorders, but we need to see more research into this first.

Slowing Down the Aging Process.

We did say it helps with aging. Fulvic acid is an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, so it can reduce cellular damage and free radicals which are part and parcel in aging.

Supplementing Shilajit in your daily diet can help to grant you overall vitality and slow the aging process. At least for some.

Preventing Anemia.

Anemia happens when the blood does not have all the health cells it needs. There are many causes of anemia, although an iron deficiency is probably the most common. It can bring about symptoms such as cold extremities, headaches, fatigue and weakness, and so on.

Shilajit has high levels of humic acid and iron in it which can assist in the treatment of anemia, although this has not been researched in full though.

It Has Antiviral Properties.

Shilajit has much in it which can help to fight off viruses, we did say it is anti-viral didn’t we? It could even help to fight off some herpes viruses. It does appear to be effective in fighting off viruses, however, there is more study required first.

Fights Chronic Fatigue

Most of us live in a state of constant lethargy, Shilajit may be able to help you there. It can help to reduce the symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome. It can assist in helping improve the functioning of your cells which can reduce fatigue.

We can’t tell you it will get rid of it entirely, but it may reduce it enough.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Well, there seems to be a lot of good to say about Shilajit supplements, but what about the dark side, not everything is sunshine and rainbows.

What side effects are there?

Side Effects.

Not everything can be great. So, while Shilajit might be great and totally reasonable for long term use in your diet, there are always going to be some potential side effects.

Do not let them scare you, everything has side effects, your lunch will have potential side effects. It is just natural.

So, what are Shilajit’s?

Well, it could lower blood pressure, thus if you are already on high blood pressure medication it could be dangerous. If you have heart disease or hypotension in your medical history then you should also stay away from Shilajit to stop your blood pressure from plummeting.

You should also always source your Shilajit from a reliable source, do not buy it off of Amazon, okay? Low quality Shilajit can be tainted with heavy metals, free radicals, or even poisons.

If you want to try it, get a high quality one, even if it costs more, at least then you are getting the real deal!
