Roald Dahl, Sweet Potato Soup and Ballet Practice

Roald Dahl, Sweet Potato Soup and Ballet Practice

I love to write a fortnightly post on the little loves in our lives and the things we have done as a family. So here is my most recent little loves. I hope you enjoy it.

Sylvia and I have been reading George’s Marvellous medicine by Roald Dahl. I have to admit he is one of my favourite authors of all time and Sylvia has taken to his books much better than the Enid Blyton books I attempted to read earlier this year.

George Marvellous Medicine

We watched Disney Descendants for the first time and we absolutely loved it. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the movie. It reminded me of high School Musical and we are now excited and looking forward to the next one.

I have been hearing Yoda our Bichon Frise squeeking his Chicken. He plays with it quite a lot and it’s nice to see him happy and hear him having fun.

We made Sweet Potato and Carrot Soup and it was delicious.

We also made some Halloween Treats. We purchased a cauldron for £1 from the poundland and then made bags of sweets. However they were not only treats, we but little spiders, ghosts, bats, pumpkins and witches in the bags to give the kids a little trick! Sylvia loved it and really got into the Halloween fun this year.

I have not been wearing much apart form pyjamas and the odd sweat pants to go to the hospital or doctors. My daughter however has been wearing her new coat to school and church. She loves it and looks really gorgeous in it.

Sylvia has been doing a lot of performing. She’s been practising her Ballet and dressing up as Elsa, al to the amusement of Yoda who simply loves it when she dances. They have a lovely relationship and we have been making some fun videos. You can check out Sylvia doing the Sugar Plum Fairy dance on tomorrows Post.

So this was our little loves. I hope you enjoyed reading about our fortnight. I’m still awaiting medical treatment, ie (the injections) and I may get an increase in energy in a few months. I hope so.

  1. Oh I loves Roald Dahl, I can’t wait til the kiddies are a bit older so I can share the love! Looks like you’ve had a fairly pleasant fortnight! Fingers crossed on the energy front lovely xx

  2. It sounds like a fortnight full of family fun. I love Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton books. I can’t wait to be able to read them with my daughter. That sweet potato and carrot soup sounds delicious as well. x

  3. Aww your daughter is so cute!! I like how she enjoyed dressing up!! My daughter is the same. She could be hours dressing up and playing with her dolls. It is so funny!! What lovely dog you have!! You made me laugh when you said that he is enjoying a lot squeaking his chicken! So funny! Those Halloween Treats look fab!! What a lovely post!!! Hope you get your injections and get more energy soon!! 🙂 xx

  4. Aww these are lovely pictures of your daughter! Georges Marvellous Medicine is one of our favourites – it has a really naughty feel to it (although I had to have a conversation with Sofia about never drinking anything that she is not meant to). I’m loving the bright coat anything that adds a bit of colour to the winters days gets the thumbs up from me. Hope that you have good results from the injections.

    1. Ha! I know, I had to point out to sylvia that if she drank 90% of the things in George’s marvelous medicine she would actually die so don’t ever try to do this. A funny book but….one which we have to make sure the kids understand is fiction!

  5. Wow seeing the name Roald Dahl brings back memories. One of the first authors I have ever read and had read to me by my dad. Loved his books. Your dog is adorable and so fluffy! I loved the idea you had of buying a cauldron for halloween and making little sweet bags and putting something different in the bag also. The soup looks delish! Great post, I enjoyed reading it.

    1. The halloween sweets were great with spiders and pumpkins in them lol. Whats cool is i bought the halloween confetti items for 5p each after halloween a few years ago when they should have been and £10 worth of halloween confetti to last the next few years and it only cost £1. 🙂 I love a bargain.

    1. Thanks Louise. I know… I saved a few weeks and wasn’t sure where we would egt it from but when i saw this in Asda i knew this was the one! Luckily she loved it too!

  6. My favourite authors a s a child were Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton, I have shared this love with my daughter. She loves the stories too but probably more Roald Dahl.

I haven’t watched Disney Descendents, we may have to watch it…. love High School Musical lol!!

  7. I love your little Halloween bags, what a great idea! I’ll definitely be introducing my little man to Roald Dahl when he’s a bit older, looking forward to reading his books again myself too! I really hope you don’t have to wait too much longer for your injections and that they give you more energy xx

    1. Thanks Helen, I am thinking of getting some more roald dahl once i have purchased a book case. We have so many kids books and no where to put them lol! i cant wait to start my injections and i too hope they make a difference! Fingers crossed!

  8. Wow, you have been busy. I used to love Roald Dahl when I was younger, well I still do and I can’t wait to introduce Rowan to him when he’s old enough.

I love your daughter’s red coat, it looks very smart.

    Great pictures too 🙂
