A Pug Birthday Cake From ASDA

For three years in a row, my daughter Sylvia has had a Pug birthday cake from Asda.

We are a dog-loving family and own two adorable dogs Yoda and Casper and so when we went to look at cake options, Sylvia fell in love with the Paloma Asda pug cake and she has asked for it every year since.

A Pug Cake

The Paloma Pug Cake from Asda is super cute. The fondant is light and dark grey with a pink tongue, eyelashes, and a light pink ribbon.

This fantastic Pug birthday cake is available from Asda for £11.00 and it a great cake to buy if your in a hurry and don’t have time to bake a cake of your own.

Making Fun Birthday Cakes

I told my daughter she could choose her own cake this year. It’s nice to choose one as a surprise but I thought I’d let her pick one out and every year she chooses the same cake. It’s quite cute!

When I was a child my mum had a cake recipe book full of fantastic cake ideas to make. My mother always made our cakes.

I don’t think we had the money and I’m not even sure if supermarkets sold cakes the way they do today back when I was small.

Even if they did, it would probably have cost a lot more and we would not have afforded it back then.

Besides baking a cake is fun to do. However due to my chronic illness and health conditions it’s one less thing I have had to stress over when planning my daughter’s party!

Does the ASDA Pug Cake Taste Good?

Yes! I have to be honest, this cake does taste delicious!

I do think buying a cake can be cheaper than making one.

I’m sure if we made the different layers and bought icing and everything needed then it may turn out the same or a little more expensive.

Making your own cakes is fun but it’s something I’ve tried a few times as an adult and its not something I am passionate about.

This Paloma pug cake tastes fantastic and there were no complaints. All the kids loved the cake and it went down a treat.

However, I can make a good cake and have a wonderful recipe which my mum gave me and it used to be a huge winner when I was well and went places. I am super happy with Sylvia’s cake of choice this year.

What Cake Theme Should You Choose?

This dog cake shows my daughter’s personality and the fact Sylvia loves dogs. I wonder what cake she will choose next year?

Does your child have a favourite birthday cake theme? How about you? What theme or style was your favourite childhood cake?

Are you a baker who prefers to make your own cake or do you prefer to buy?

I purchased this cake myself
