A Princess Themed Party
Well my daughter had her birthday last week. I was worried I would not be able to do a nice party due to my health but decided to plan one anyway from the bedside! With the help of Coppull Playmates Play Centre who were a fabulous Birthday party host- Sylvia had the best Party ever and I really mean it.
I stayed in bed for two days before the party to make sure I’d have the strength to go..this is what I have to do to go to events/appointments etc. My hubby pushed me in the wheelchair and my good friend Sandra carried the cake and helped my daughter to get dressed all nice!
The party was a Princess Party. The girls arrived dressed in their best dresses and the boys came as princes.
The kids began by playing in the gym area for twenty minutes, they had so much steam to burn and absolutely loved it.
I got to sit and relax in the cafe area and meet the other parents, something I have not had a chance to do as I hardly ever pick up or drop my daughter off at school. I made some “Mummy” friends in real life as opposed to over the internet. This was fantastic. The centre provided some wonderful Juice fountains and the kids were able to help themselves as and when needed.
The children gathered around to play some games. Sylvia had to stand in a circle as the others walked around to princess music. She really enjoyed being the centre of attention.
The kids had a dress/pamper/party station and had their faces painted along with their nails polished. The girls got sparkles on their face and ears.
The boys had pirate tattoos. Sylvia and her friends had their nails polished. They absolutely loved it!
The children then had the birthday party with love heart Sandwiches, lovely treats, cakes and buns. Sylvia has a Frozen Cake from Asda….it was a quick and simple option and the only thing I had to physically organise besides wrapping her Ahna Doll and the gifts from family members (who live far away) that had arrived in the mail.
The kids screamed and shouted and Sylvia was not impressed. She requested they sing again..so she ended up blowing the candles out twice. I have no idea what she wished for.
After the food the children were able to go to the Disco room and have a flashing party. They were all given flashing lights and lined up to do the Limbo. It was so fun. They then played party games, sleeping lions, dancing and other fun games.
It was a fabulous party. Party bags were provided full of wonderful little gadgets, a fan for the girls, whistles, chocolate and sweets and of course the cake. One of the girls was so excited, she had unwrapped her piece of cake and found she had Olaf’s hand! The evening ended with a boogie on the dance floor.
After the party, my friend Sandra gathered Sylvia’s gifts. There were so many presents I was in shock. She got so much stuff. I felt she had been spoilt, however I also know how wonderful she has been – given the fact her mummy is so unwell.
Life at home is somewhat different for Sylvia than for other kids. For example we hardly ever go out as a family. She usually go’s alone with her dad and I stay at home- too unwell. I can go places, but It will then take several days or a week to gain my physical energy back. There is no way I was missing this Party!
My daughter has been through a lot in her life and has more to deal with, having a permanently unwell mum. Normally I’d be feeling guilty for spoiling her rotten but I think she deserved this fabulous party and to have a day with no worries whatsoever!
A birthday is only once a year and I don’t plan to buy her anything new until Christmas. Sylvia’s  favourite toy was the Ahna and Elsa -Royal Refelction Eye Toddler dolls. She has spent the whole weekend playing with all her new things.
Thanks to the team at Coppull Playmates Centre in Lancashire. I will be forever grateful. You made my daughter’s dream party come true.

Aww happy birthday Sylvia (lovely name too). It must be so tough for all of you coping with your illness. I can’t imagine and I hope you get the money for your pump soon. I’m so glad Sylvia had a wonderful day she looked delighted 🙂
Thanks Laura! Yes it is really difficult for all of us. It has taken me almost two years to get to a point where I can accept this is the way I am and to find ways to manage and cope and this is a major reason for writing the blog- to help other’s in similar situations and to help mother’s to know..despite any challenge we can still be brilliant parents.
