Decluttering The Garage

This week has been super stressful. There has been so much going on with my health and lots of paper work to complete here in New Zealand. I’m slowing getting through it all and am feeling pleased with all my husband and I have achieved.

I’ve felt like I’ve had no time to just relax or destress. I am either, filling out forms, going to appointments, sleeping due to illness and not much more. It’s been hard but the list of things to do is slowly going down and that is a positive.

We Hired A Skip – Decluttering The Garage

So one thing my parents wanted to do was to hire a skip. We needed to clear out all the Junk from my dad’s garage. Over the years he has collected a lot of rubbish and it has gotten a little out of hand.

My parents are super eco friendly and they recycle many things. Dad gives all the food scraps to the chickens and has a compost bin. He collects metals such as copper and cans to trade in for money and he upcycles many things. It’s really great but with all his work and busy life duties, the garage had simply become a dumping zone.

So the family worked hard to clear out and sort through all the junk. We hired a skip and filled it up. The garage now has a lot more space and the goal is for Dad and John to build a small studio kitchen area so John can create and make recipes using our Instant Pots for this blog and his own blog www.theinstantpottable.com.

Well we would have loved to get a large skip but they do cost quite a. bit of money so we got the smallest size and recycled tons of items and built several large wood piles for winter.

A Trip To Gengi’s Khan Mongolian Restaurant

This week it was my husband’s birthday and so we all went out as a family to celebrate. We went to a Mongolian restaurant which was super cool. You get to choose your ingredients and it is cooked on a large Iron skillet.

The food was great but what was even more fun is just being well enough to go out for a meal with Mum and Dad and my brothers. That is something I have not done in almost 12 years.

My Dad Is Funny

My Dad is super cool. He is so funny and makes me laugh a lot. He is a hard worker and it was so nice to spend time with him between his work hours helping him organise the garage and then going out to dinner. We had so much fun and I could not stop laughing. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so much.

John does not like having his picture taken but I managed to get a few cheeky snaps of us during our meal. Sylvia loved the food and I did too. There was a regular buffet but also the Mongolian food and I had a really nice noodle, beef and veg stir fry which tasted like my favourite meal in the UK – that I had at Wagamama’s. It was so good!

Casper The Dog Had Skin Cancer

I have some not so great news. Casper has a huge tumour on his eye and it was removed. It was sent for testing and turned out to have cancer cells. The vets are hopeful they have removed the whole thing and we will find out in a few months if the tumour does not grow back.

He had to wear the cone of shame while his eye healed and after two weeks he has healed and he is now doing much better.

Meet Gypsy The Dog

Casper is getting along well with Gypsy my Mums dog. He doesn’t seem to get on with Charlie the cat, as he can’t understand that Charlie is a pet. We are trying to teach him but sadly he seems to chase the cat away whenever mums cat enters the home. It’s a work in progress.

Our Free Range Chickens

Casper has also had a lot of fun chasing the Chickens around the garden. Dad has chickens and they lay eggs for us which is super useful. They have a shed to nest in but are free to wonder the garden during the day.

Well it’s been a crazy week. My goals for this week are to complete the following:

  • Finish paper work for HMRC in England etc.
  • Visit the Doctor for more medication.
  • John to buy plaster for building our photography studio.
  • Set some goals for my craft blog Craft Play Learn
  • Book my Dentist appointment for two weeks. I need more dental work but am currently saving up for that.
  • Write 3 Blog posts on The Inspiration Edit this week and 1 post on the Craft Blog.
  • Work on my Pinterest accounts and make a plan to grow my followings.

It’s a busy week and there is lots to do between resting and sleeping but I can do it! It’s the last week of school term so Sylvia will be heading to her aunts in Dunedin to spend time with my sister and her cousins. Exciting!

Sorry you have had a stressful week. It sounds like progress has been made which is good.
hahaha! Your dad sounds a lot like mine. He collects things that might be useful one day but a lot of it is just junk.
Happy birthday to John. It sounds like a fab meal out.
Aww! Poor Casper. I hope they have managed to get all of the cancer and he’s OK. x
