Magic Maths With Orchard Toys
This week Sylvia received a fantastic educational game from Orchard Toys. I love Orchard Toys. This is a brand I fell in love with over 10 years ago as a Kindergarten teacher and I’ve never been disappointed.
Magic maths is a fantastic educational game for children aged 5-7 and can be played by 2-4 people at a time. the game comes with a set of 4 boards, maths sum cards and some really smelly and disgusting pictures which to kids are really cool. It actually reminds me a little of the game Tummy Ache I used to play as a child.
When you get a new game from Orchard you usually have to take the pieces apart to set up for the first time. This is a easy and simple process and can be done my both children or adults.
The aim of the game is to do the maths on the cards and work out the answer. Now the really cool and magical part is that their is a black star on the back of each card with a sum. A child can work out the maths and then check the answer by rubbing the star. The answers appears and then goes black again.
You can use your fingers to rub the star or an eraser. We used an eraser as we had one to hand but the fingers do the job just as good.
We played the Magic Maths game and had two boards each. It’s a little like a Bingo board as you divide the numbers and place them on your board. the first to collect all the numbers by doing the maths gets ends up with a complete board of horrible and disgusting items and is the winner.
Sylvia enjoyed this game. I will say that she does not enjoy maths and can sometimes get frustrated and upset when doing sums. I think having a game which is fun to help her build her confidence and numeracy skills fantastic and while she did get a little upset at some of the maths, we were able to work the sums out together and I gave praise when she worked it out correctly.
My daughter is not behind at school and is 8 years old so I think this game is totally suitable for Sylvia at her current stage and as we continue to play this I believe it can help her to build her maths confidence. The game has addition, subtraction and multiplications which are very simple. I love Magic Maths and when given the option to keep the game or not Sylvia wanted to keep it. It’s a winner in her eyes and a great one to add to our collection of Orchard Games a brand which I think is absolutely brilliant.
We were sent this game for the purpose of review. All opinions are my own and are honest and truthful. I have loved this brand for many years and really do like this game.
