Lumiere Rock Painting From Beauty And The Beast

Recently I thought I would have a try at painting Lumiere from Beauty And The Beast on a rock stone. I have to say it was not easy and the outcome was not perfect, however I had a lot of fun doing this. Enjoy this Disney themed painted rock.

An an early years teacher I was taught that it is not the end product that is important but the process. When teaching kids and doing art with children this is the case. It’s not always the art work they produce but the skills they develop whilst carrying out their art.

Kids can learn fine motor skills, develop literacy and social skills amongst many when painting and so this could be a great learning activity to do with young children.

Supplies Needed for This Rock Painting Craft

How to Make This Beauty and the Beast Painted Rock

After preparing the supplies, I began by drawing Lumiere’s character onto a piece of paper with a pencil.

I find drawing on paper my design before drawing on the stone easier and it helps me to get the size correct.

I used a pencil to draw the outline of Lumiere onto the stone.

I then began by adding yellow and white paint to the body and face of Lumiere.

I used a mixture of yellow, gold and yellow and gold mixed to paint the candle holder section of Lumiere’s body.

I used the paint tray to mix my paint.

I used orange for the fire and peach for the face and then began to outline the stone.

At first I was a little disappointed that my stone was less perfect than I’d hoped.

However Lumiere is not an easy character to draw and at the end of the day I did pretty well.

So what do you think? I am really pleased.

In fact I shared my image on Instagram and got the most likes on an Instagram picture I’ve ever had so I must have done something right.

Next I will be trying Mrs Potts.
