The Inspiration Edit Designing My Header
As you may recall I recently changed my blog name to The Inspiration Edit. I made the change at the start of October and I know it was the right decision for me.
I chose a name which for me would represent what my blog is all about. My main aim is to inspire others as I share our family lifestyle, ideas and thoughts. 2016 has been a crazy year for me. It’s been a year of achievements and progress and my blog has grown so much.
Changing name was a scary thing. I was worried about the brands I’d built relationships with and knew I’d lose potential work opportunities and my Domain Authority would have to rebuild from scratch. For me, this has not been easy but I have persevered and I am slowly growing my blog back to where it was in September.
Page view wise I’m getting more page views than I’ve ever had. My DA is taking time and effort to rebuild as expected but I was super pleased to wake up and find more score is back at 32. I’ve been thinking about my plans and goals for next year and one of the things I really wanted to do before the year was out was get my template design and header back to how I want it to be.
My previous domain had a header designed by Ellie Illustrates which I loved. However, the header no longer fitted in with my new direction as a blogger and so back in October I booked the blog in for a new header and two new side categories. I’ve been waiting excitedly for some time and am so excited that my new designs arrived just in time for Christmas.
What a fabulous Christmas gift to my blog!
I decided I wanted an outdoors theme for The Inspiration Edit. I asked for a design which is colourful and attractive. Helen Braid has done a fantastic job and I’m so pleased with the final header design.
We have a garden setting with our two adorable dogs Yoda and Casper. Sylvia is wearing a dress to represent our Sylvia’s Style posts and holding a lovely doll. We love to review toys so I thought that would be great. We have the swing and tomato plant which are items we have in our current garden.

We love to review toys so I thought that would be great to share this in the image. We have a swing and tomato plant in our current garden so they were features I wanted to include.
In the header, John is taking photos. He is a photographer in the making and I felt it would be great to include this in the post. I am in the picture holding a baking bowl. I love to cook when I can and come up with fun ideas especially for cooking with kids and so I thought it would be great to be holding a mixing bowl.
I really think this header represents well the direction I plan to go in 2017 as a blogger and I’m super excited and pleased to share it here on the blog. Thanks Helen for the wonderful design. I am so so happy.
