I’m Going To Nursery Book Review And Giveaway

Today on the blog we are reviewing a brilliant little book called I’m Going To Nursery by Stacey Turner. Starting Nursery school or Preschool can be a daunting thing for many little children. Working as an early years teacher I recall many occasions when new children would start the private daycare centre. For many little ones, this was the first time and it was quite common for the event to cause separation anxiety and a little stress to both child and parent.

Starting Nursery School

I always love a children’s book which can help deal with a difficult event whilst telling a good story and as a result easing the potential anxiety of a child. Stacey Turner has written this book for all parents who are gearing up to their little one starting nursery, preschool or even school for the first time.

Settling into Nursery can be a difficult transitioning time for children and this book I’m Going To Nursery, parents can help their son or daughter to get excited and to cope better with this exciting new experience.

What I love about the book

From an early years perspective, this book has some fantastic and engaging illustrations created by Dori Berkovic. I love that there is enough illustration on each page to actively tell a story yet not too much to overwhelm a child.

Starting Nursery School

The book is great linguistically as the words are easy and simple to understand. Each page has a little writing which is at the level needed for a nursery aged child. This means the book can be read in one go making it an enjoyable experience for little ones.

Starting Nursery School

I love the personalisation that Stacey brings to her book. The front cover says, “My tiny book”. This book is for a child to specifically help them. There is a place in the book to your child to draw their family, a self portrait and their new teachers.

The book is also engaging in that it has 5 colouring pages at the back. This is fantastic as it is really a way to get your child thinking about the book and theme of going to Nursery in a fun and engaging way.

Starting Nursery School

This book is a great way to extend your child’s interest in learning about and preparing for Nursery and as a qualified Preschool Teacher I think it is a fantastic resource for any parent.

The fantastic news today is that in addition to my own copy of this book, which I will be gifting to my niece Lilly, I have one copy of I’m Going To Nursery to give away here on the blog.
