Many people suffer from chronic pain and insomnia, with the inability to find a comfortable position in which to sleep. There are numerous reasons for this condition, and many of these reasons start with where you sleep. Let’s explore!

Invest In A New Mattress

First and foremost, if your current mattress is giving you pain then it’s time for an upgrade. It could be that the foam inside the mattress has worn out or springs are poking through to irritate your back. Whatever the case may be, investing in the most comfortable mattresses is well worth it when you start finding relief from pains in your back and joints. Don’t think you have to spend a fortune either, there are affordable options available.

When purchasing a new mattress it is best to invest in something that specifically caters to your needs as an individual. For those who sleep on their side, go for a soft but supportive mattress with memory foam and springs that suit the contours of your body. However, if you prefer sleeping on your back then a firmer mattress without too much give will be better suited since this position reduces pressure on your spine and hips. With these points in mind, try to find a middle ground between the firm and soft so as not to put stress or excess pressure on any particular area of the body – doing so will only increase your pain. Once you have a new mattress be sure to find a mattress disposal company for your old mattress or gift it to someone in need.

Keep Your New Mattress Clean & Dust-Free

Once you’ve finally bitten the bullet and bought a new mattress, it’s important to keep it clean and dust-free to ensure there is no buildup of dirt or dead skin cells that can make getting a good night’s sleep difficult.

Do this by removing the mattress protector weekly while vacuuming any surface areas. Before putting back on the pillow protector, give it a quick wash with some warm water and vinegar to prevent mold from setting in. These are inexpensive solutions that will go a long way towards keeping yourself healthy!

Remove Clutter From Around Your Bedroom Area

The saying ‘a tidy house is a tidy mind’ is true. Not only does a clutter-free bedroom give off a relaxing vibe but it also means you can find things more easily – perfect for those middle of the night ‘where are my glasses?’ searches!

To keep yourself motivated, try to make your room as pleasant and inviting as possible by adding decor that inspires you to sleep peacefully every night.

Also keep in mind that if your bed is against the window, having blackout blinds installed will prevent those unwanted early-morning rays from waking you up before you’re ready.

Invest In Comfortable Bed Linen & Mattress Protector

Another skincare tip for keeping comfortable while sleeping at night is to invest in comfortable bed linen and mattress protectors. Look out for the softest cotton you can find, with a thread count of around 300 or higher. This is needed to ensure that your sheets do not irritate the skin in any way when sleeping compared to synthetic options which can cause irritating rashes that lead to redness and itchiness.

For those who love cuddling down under layers of warm blankets during winter but keep waking up because they are too hot, try adding a mattress protector along with breathable natural fiber bedding for all-year-round comfort. Alternatively, if it’s the summertime then consider using light cotton sheets so as not to overheat while sleeping.

Another skincare tip for keeping comfortable while sleeping at night is to invest in comfortable bed linen, fur blanket and mattress protectors.

Make Sure Your Mattress And Pillows Fit

There’s nothing worse than not being able to find a comfortable position when trying to go to sleep at night. This can be due to the mattress and pillows either being too firm or too soft, therefore finding a balance is key for any good night’s sleep.

Mattresses should offer a medium level of firmness that cradles your posture while you sleep on top of it, whereas pillow height should match the overall height of your bed for you to comfortably rest your head. Memory foam is great for supporting the back by keeping it straight while sleeping on your side, but if this kind of material isn’t right for you then simply lookout for something with more springing power that will help align your spine naturally.

Finding the right mattress for you is a very personal choice. If you can’t seem to find one that suits your needs, try stacking two different mattresses together and seeing if it makes a difference! Also, consider buying a foam or latex mattress topper which might help in improving comfort levels while sleeping in certain positions.
