Testing Your Dogs IQ Featuring Yoda and Casper
Last week Sylvia and I visited the local charity shop to see if we could find any hidden treasures. We love nice and new items but we are also frugal where we can be and love to find a bargain whenever we can. So we began looking on the bookshelves and were fortunate to discover two new books both on Dogs.
The first book was on Dog Behaviour and the second was called How Smart Is Your Dog? The books is fantastic. It’s for kids and is a Parragon book from 2012. The book has lots of ideas and tests you can do to test the IQ of your pet Dog and so Sylvia got to work testing out Yoda and Casper.
One of the tests Sylvia did was the cup test. Sylvia hid a treat underneath one of the paper cups and then waited to see if Yoda and Casper could find it. We did the test with one dog at a time. The dogs were given points for different criteria for example, if they went straight to the cup, if they sniffed out the treat, knocked over the cup and found the treat.
We bought this book for 99p and it is a great find. We will be doing more tricks and tests from the book to test out our dogs IQ. In this specific test, Casper did really well. He was very clever and went straight to the treat twice. Yoda on the other hand used his nose to sniff out the treat. They both did very well.
I think having fun with your pets is a great thing and especially for my daughter who is for now an only child. Yoda and Casper are lovely and they really are smart but I might add their behaviour could be a little better and we will have to learn from the second book we purchased to see what we can do to work on that.

This is awesome! I really wish I had a dog but we work long hours 🙁
I understand. We could not have one for years. It is finally the right time for our family.
Sounds like a really lovely book and a nice time spent with your pets. I am sure Sylvia love it big time
Aw this is so cute, I wonder if I can do that with my cats ha x
I bet you can lol!
How awesome! I love charity shops and go on when I can. Last week we picked up a full marble run set for J for £5, and a pair of jeans plus a fat face shirt for me which cost £9 together. It’s good to be a little more frugal and look for interesting finds!
Thats a great bargain!
This looks like lots of fun! I’d love to test my two Dalmatians, Louis and Pepsi – I feel like Pepsi will be the smarter one. Shes sneaky and pretty smart! Louis’ just a bundle of excitement, bless.
What super cute names for your dogs!
Books sounds interesting. I bet Sylvia loves them.
Yes she loves them!
This looks like so much fun! I find it so interesting to find out how intelligent some animals really are!
It is interesting and a lot of fun for a rainy day!
Aaaahhh how cute are the dogs. It looks like a great way to have fun and bond with your dogs. Wow only 99p that’s a bargain.
Thanks. The dogs are fun and yes the book is a bargain!
Your dogs are smarter than mine, I’m not sure mine would pass these kinds of IQ tests! x
Ha Ha! I guess every dog is different. You’d be surpised how smart they are though!
Sounds like such a fun book. You can always find such good treasures in charity shops x
Yes. Charity shops are the best!
This is such a fun idea! So many great activities, 99p well spent!
Thanks Kirstie. The book is full of fun ideas!
