One of my all time favourite books is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. When I was an early years teacher I loved to read the story of the hungry caterpillar to the children. I purchased a dvd with the story along with other stories written by Eric Carle.
Today I am sharing a list of fantastic Eric Carle books that kids will love. Well I know they do as I’ve read these many times in the preschool setting and they always go down a real treat.

When Do Children Learn To Read?
Children usually start learning to read around the age of four and five. As a young toddler children are introduced to pictures books and short stories. As little ones enter Nursery or preschool, they are able to learn the names and sounds of the alphabet which is great preparation for learning easy and simple words once they start school.
Who Is Eric Carle?
Eric Carle is an American designer, writer and illustrator of children’s books. One of his most famous books is The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which has been translated into over 65 languages and sold more than 46 million copies.
Carle was born in 1929 and is currently 90 years old. He was born in Syracuse, New York and has two children. Eric Carle won an award for children’s literature. He is a wonderful author and has created a great legacy.
