Fantastic Childrens Christmas Books to Read
Fantastic Childrens Christmas Books To Read
Christmas is a magical time of the year and one I love. As a family we love to sing Christmas carols, bake festive goods and read classic Christmas books along with reading my favourite Christmas book, the nativity story.
Reading is such an important thing to do with the little ones and this Christmas season is a great time to get out the Christmas story books and encourage our children to read more. It really is a great opportunity to encourage literacy whilst enjoying the spirit of Christmas.
Christmas Books for Toddlers and Older Kids
Today I am sharing some of the best Christmas books for toddlers and preschool children. I have a list of 20 books which you might like to read together with the children this Christmas season.
How to Help Kids Read
Have you ever wondered how can I teach my kid to read? Well the best way to start is to simply provide books. You can start with picture books. Babies love to look at pictures and you can simply talk to your little one about the pictures and what they can see.
As your child get’s older, choose fun, simple and easy story books. I love rhyming books and simple board books with just one or two sentences per page.
The more you read to your kids, the more your children will develop a love for children’s books and that can only be a good thing right!
How to Make a Book Advent Calendar
One idea to make reading fun during the Christmas period is to make a book advent calendar. All you need to do is find a collection of books, either 24 or 12 and wrap them up for the kids to open each day.
The 24 Day Book Advent Calendar
You can visit a local book store and purchase 24 new Christmas story books. Alternatively if you have plenty of Christmas books for kids at home you might want to simply wrap up your existing books.
You can also look on sites such as ebay and Amazon or visit a charity shop to find good quality second hand Christmas books for kids.
The 12 Day Book Advent Calendar
If you’re on a budget or super busy, why not try a 12 days of Christmas Book advent calendar. That’s another fun idea. We made our own book advent calendar last year and my daughter was super excited to open her Christmas story books each day and read them. It really was super fun!
Christmas Story Books the Kids Will Love
So here is our list of 20 childrens Christmas books. I’m sure you will love this list and I hope it comes in handy. Whether your reading with the kids at home or in the Preschool or Kindergarten setting, these Christmas story books are great options to try.
