How To Make The Cat In The Hat Craft And Reading Resource
This is a super fun Dr Seuss craft and reading resource idea and one that is super easy to make with or for the kids.
To make this Cat in the hat craft you will need to some wooden slices and a pencil. Simply draw your characters onto the wooden slices using your pencil. You can draw the images you see here or look in your Cat in the hat Book for some ideas.
Once you have drawn Thing one and thing two you can use acrylic or posca paint pens to paint your Dr Seuss characters blue and red.
You can also paint the cat in the hat, the fish and other characters as you please. Here are paintings of the girl and boy from the cat in the hat story book. Their names are Sally and Conrad.
Painting the Cat in the hat onto a wooden slice can be a little tricky which is why I always recommend drawing the outline first in pencil. You can create the cat in the hat or simply draw the hat from the cat in the hat. You could also draw other items such as a fish bowl or umbrella.
Thing one and thing two are certainly interesting characters and they are not too difficult to draw. When I painted thing one and thing two onto wooden spoons I focused on the outline of the face first and then the hair. Once you get the head and hair of thing one and thing two sorted, the body is pretty easy.
Creating a Dr Seuss story resource or painting characters from The Cat In The Hat is a great way to extend a child’s interest in this fun and quirky rhyming book. The Cat In The Hat is one of my all time favourite books and I will never run out of ideas for Cat In The Hat Crafts and activities.
So what do you think? do you love this idea as much as I do? When you paint your own set of Cat In The Hat crafts don’t forget to varnish them once they are dry. This will help keep the wooden slices in good condition and help them to last a long time.
