Ballet, Designer Dresses, Sewing Lessons and Parents Evening
Well hi there, I love writing my Little Loves Post every few weeks and the last two weeks have been a really full on week for me. I just want to share all the craziness that has been going on, so here goes.
Read
Last week I read a book called Why Perinatal Depression Matters. It was fantastic. I learnt all about other cultures and what is expected of women the first few weeks and months after childbirth. I can honestly say, it left me feeling a lot of mixed emotions. I thought about my own experience having a new born and felt sad because of the lack of support I received. The book has great tips and advice for new mums and for dealing with depression after giving birth.
Watched
This week I travelled to Manchester with my family to watch a Ballet performance at the Palace Theatre. The show was called 1984 and was a romantic love story. We absolutely loved it. This was John’s and my first time to a ballet. I had to write a review the following day. This has to be one of the best opportunities I’ve had as a freelance writer so far. I wrote tons of reviews at University as part of my English degree and it’s finally coming in handy.
Heard
Well, I listened to my daughter’s school teacher at parents evening. I got a really good idea where my child is at education wise and now know what I need to focus on with Sylvia “in the home” to support her in learning this years curriculum. I’ve been hearing my daughter sing a lot and so we are going to use music to help with her maths. We both love music.
Made
My Husband and I created a masterpiece this week! i designed and encouraged and john cut and built a wonderful dolls house for our daughter Sylvia. This was part of the ContiBoard Blogger challenge. I wished we could have hidden it until Christmas but the dolls house is massive (American size) and had to be built in the bedroom. This was a challenging project as I’m too unwell to do things physically and my hubby as a bad hand, but we pulled it off and my child has not stopped smiling all week. You can read the post How to Build a Girls Doll House here. There are lots of fabulous pictures.
I also had my first sewing lesson since primary school. I learnt so much and actually made a dress for my daughter’s Lottie Doll. I’m in shock as I thought there is no way I could sew but i did it. I only lasted 1/2 an hour and then I began to feel unwell but if I take it slowly and practice every few weeks, you never know what skills I might unearth. It’s my birthday in November and now I think i know what I want- a sewing machine.
Wore
This week Sylvia wore a fabulous apricot dress to the Ballet. This was a beautiful Rachel Riley Designer Dress gifted to us by FingerOFudge children’s Boutique who we are brand ambassadors for. I love this dress, it is so formal but cute.
And Lastly
I finally we need more vitamins and nutrients in our bodies at the moment and so we have been having healthy smoothies This one is banana, coconut, ginger and kale. It was delicious.
Thanks for reading all about my week. It’s been really busy but we survived and are all happy.

What a lovely week – hope this balances out the mixed news from your consultant appointment. I love sewing and bought myself a cheap sewing machine last year (although don’t have much time to do it). I make little things with my daughter. Our speciality is shopping bags. They are easy as they are all straight lines. We followed a youtube tutorial. I’ll see if I can find the link. They are coming in very handy with the 5p bag charge.
Thanks Sarah. I still try to make life happy for the family despite my own difficulties. I cant believe i left the house 4 times. It has burnt me out but at least as you say it balances out the stressful medical situation! Thanks for stopping by! Angela x
Wow I wish I could sew, I am useless at sewing a button lol! The dress you made is soo cute and I also love the dress your daughter wore, fab colour! Sounds like you have been a busy bee 🙂
Gemma xx
I had no idea how to sew. This was my first attempt. I can do a button and basics but this will take practice to get good. 🙂
Sounds like you have had a good week. The ballet looks fabulous, well done on your sewing and that gorgeous doll’s house 🙂
Thanks Laura. It has been a good “sick week”… we got a lot done and i think it burnt me out but the dolls and house are great and i’m excited about them!
I haven’t been blogging recently as I have been quite unwell. I’m finally getting a scan next week. I love reading your posts. You do so much despite your illness. They really encourage me, thank you Ang! Xx
I hope your okay Lavinia. Sorry to hear you have been unwell. A lot of us are unwell these days and its no good. i’m glad you like my posts and it is helpful. Some days we get nothing done others we manage something 🙂 Angela x
You’ve had a busy week! I have never been great at sewing but must be a handy hobby to have. That’s great news about your daughter’s parents evening 🙂
Thanks. I really want to learn more about sewing. Maybe i should get pitching to a sewing company to review a sewing machine. That would be great! xx
Lovely to read such a positive post after your frustrating endocrinologist appointment. Going to the ballet sounds like such a fab treat and I love the dress Sylvia wore. I need to start making more smoothies, it’s such a great way to get loads of extra nutrients, and the one you made sounds delicious.
Thanks Helen,
Yes this has been a really hard week but it’s good to focus on the positive and write lovely things too! We can still have good times even when feeling very unwell. thanks for stopping by 🙂
The ballet sounds fantastic and I love Sylvia’s dress 🙂 The dress you made for the doll is fab, hidden talents lol!

We had a great time. I’m always discovering new talents. I’m not sure if I can sew something bigger. I will have to try when we one day own a sewing machine.
I love your pictures, it looks like you’ve had lots of fun! Thank you so much for linking up with #busydoinglife!
Thanks. We had a good week. I hope to make my Little loves post a fortnightly feature! I hope so anyway! Angela x
