Over the past two months I have been quite unwell. Not only with my health conditions but I have recently felt really down. It’s been a difficult time for me.

My parents returned to their home in New Zealand in September and although we have face time, it’s just not the same as being able to see one another in person. I find drawing quite therapeutic and so I decided to try and give painting a go.

I didn’t really know if I would be good at this but I wanted to try it out. I remember drawing cute animals and characters as a young teenager and my teacher mocking my work because it was not realistic.

That teacher really influenced me negatively. I have always believed that I am rubbish but over the past two months I have discovered that I am not as bad as I thought. I can draw and I am going to work on this talent.

I have really enjoyed painting milk bottles and rock stones.

I am loving it so much that  I am hoping to paint more stones and share them each week here on the blog.

So today I am sharing my peacock rock stone which turned out pretty cool.

I’m not sure what it is about drawing and painting but it helps me to relax and not feel as sad.

Every time I miss my parents and feel really down I draw. I’ve found it really hard to write.

When I am unwell I can write but when I just feel sad and miss my family I draw and paint and it really does help.

I honestly did not think I could make something like this.

I did not know it was in me but I did it and am super pleased.

I’ve discovered something which helps me when I feel sad. It helps me to feel happy again and is quite therapeutic. I have a goal to save up and visit my parents in New Zealand.

It is quite expensive and so will take a long time to save, especially with the ongoing medical costs I have.

So I have a plan, I am going to try to make and sell some rock stones and save to visit my family.

Then whenever I feel sad and miss my Mum and Dad I can go paint a rock and know I’m doing something to help reach my goal of seeing them again.

I have discovered something I love and have even made a new category on the blog specifically for Rock Painting. I am excited and need to look into how I can sell these stones I paint.

I am thinking of getting Modge Podge to seal them. I have a lot to learn but am excited. I also plan to make story stones too.

I really do hope things go well and that I can make something of these stones. I need to make a plan. If I could paint and sell three thousand stones it would cover the cost of a trip to my family. I have to try.

In my town, people paint rocks and hide them all over. When you find one, you are supposed to re-hide it somewhere new. I will have to try out this peacock design. So cute!
