I AM THE MOTHER WHO WANTED A BABY

mother

I was tagged by Laura Summers over at Laura’s Lovely Blog to write a post on “being the mother who….”

I wasn’t 100% sure what I was going to write. You see I was once falsely accused of being a ‘bad mum’ and although this was not the case, it knocked me back and even put doubts in my mind about what kind of mother I was. Now I can confidently say that I have always been a brilliant mother in whatever circumstances I have found myself.

I’ve been a single parent with a newborn… it was not always easy but it was worth it! My daughter is the best.

If you find yourself a single parent with a newborn, you may want to read A Letter To The Single Mom With A Newborn

I found the thought of this post quite scary and difficult at first but I persevered and here it is.

An honest and true reflection of who I really am as a mother.

I Am the Mother Who…

I am the mother who wanted a baby so badly, I had fertility treatment with my husband. (Now x husband)

I am the mother who could not produce milk and had to give up breast feeding at six weeks.

I am the mother who was sent back to work when baby was 4 months old.

I am the mother who quit work because I wanted to be with baby.

I am the mother who was physically separated from baby (by the controlling x husband as a form of abuse)

I am the mother who was spat on and slapped and abused by her husband.

I am the mother who ran away with baby and got a protection order.

I am the mother who then put my baby into childcare to help me cope.

I am the mother who left her family and friends in NewZealand to make baby safe in the UK.

I am the mother who raised baby as a single mum for five years.

I am the Mother who faced injustice and was wrongly separated from baby.

I am the mother who struggled but survived.

I am the mother who put on weight and ate her emotions.

I am the mother who then lost all the weight through healthy eating and exercise.

I am the mother who then met the man of her dreams

I am the mother who married and gave baby a loving step father.

I am the mother who collapsed after the wedding and was diagnosed with adrenal failure.

I am the mother who stayed in bed for two years due to serious illness.

I am the mother who decided enough is enough and began blogging about my life.

I am the mother who is fighting to get well so I can be my best self.

I am the mother who won the Bronze MumpreneurUK Website Award in 2015.

I am the mother who also won the 2015 MumpreneurUK Voice Award in 2015

I am the Mother who is still fighting and fundraising to get well.

I am the Mother of my child. I will always be her Mother.

I am the Mother hear me roar!

  5. It’s amazing the things I learn about fellow blogger through these little chain type posts. Sounds like you have had quite the motherhood Ang. Thanks for sharing about it with #momsterslink.

  6. This is awesome! You have had some struggles in your life and you are still standing. I watched my mom get beat a lot when I was a small child so it’s good you got away from him when you did. That took a lot of courage. It is so hard to leave an abusive spouse for so many reasons but you did it! You should be very proud and you are a good mom. Thanks for Sharing!

    1. Thanks Michelle. I am still standing and I appreciate your words of support! Leaving these relationships is never easy! I’ve even written a book on it to help others in the situation and in process of getting it edited! Angela xx

      1. That’s really great that you have turned your experience around into something positive like helping others by sharing your story. I, too, am doing that with my blog. Helping others understand Autism, ADHD (my kids), as well as talking about My PTSD in the hopes of spreading awareness and hopefully giving some inspiration along the way. Even if I only help one person, it’s worth it.

        1. Brilliant! I have a lot of family members with Autism/Aspergers and a brother who is very special with deleted chromosones. Yes, I blog for a number of reasons (such as trying to provide for the family) but the goal and overall mission of the blog is to support mothers and children with parenting and health in addition to those who suffer from Adrenal Insufficiency (My Illness). It’s great that you too are spreading awareness! I have my own experience with PTSD and it is not an easy thing. Also ADHD, it’s not an easy thing for mothers to cope with and sharing ideas and experiences will help! I worked with a ADHD child when I was a teacher and it was very hard but rewarding work!

          Angela xx

          1. It is very rewarding to see both of my boys be their own people, despite their struggles. My son with ADHD has such an amazing imaginiation and is so outgoing. My son with Autism is my little genius (though he isn’t little anymore). I write about them in my blog. Check it out when you get a chance. I also grew up with a brother who had ADHD so I’m very familiar with it.
